Pole stops vehicle from lunging into ditch

Scene at the crash site today, January 15.

Three persons were saved from potentially serious injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a newly-installed utility pole that was erected at the edge of a ditch.

The accident happened in the Upper Johnson’s Ghut area of Tortola this afternoon.

BVI News understands that the driver in question lost control of the vehicle while travelling down a considerably steep road in the area.

The vehicle was blocked from lunging into the said ditch by a utility pole, which subsequently snapped in two.

A woman, who was one of three occupants in the vehicle at the time, sustained minor injuries while the other occupants were unharmed.

When BVI News arrived on the scene, police, fire officers, and BVI Electricity Corporation workers were observed at the crash site.
