BVI’s latest murder victim confirmed to be Corey Butler

The victim of last evening’s fatal shooting has been identified as Corey Butler, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has said.

According to the police, Butler, 35, was shot and killed in the Scatliffe Alley area around 6:30 pm yesterday.

The Lambert Estate resident was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital with gunshot wounds to the body.

“Police are asking persons who have information that can assist with this investigation or witnessed the actual incident to contact the Major Crime Team at 368-5682 or the RVIP Intelligence Unit at 368-9339. All information will be held in the strictest confidence,” the RVIPF.

Butler’s death is the third gun-related homicide recorded in the territory since the beginning of the new year.

    It’s not the island it’s the psyche of the people who decimate the stature of the island via the inflated rate of criminalities being perpetrated. both by locals and persons who migrated here to the BVI.

    6:30pm is early. I hope someone saw something and share with the cops. There should be cameras in the area and I hope the cops secure and review them before it’s too late as is the norm.
