Police name two men in Baughers Bay gun find

Jeremy Nibbs (left) and Kyle Baronville

Police confirmed the names of two of the three men arrested following a recent gun and explosives discovery in Baughers Bay.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) named the men as Jeremy Nibbs, 37, of Pockwood Pond, and Kyle Baronville, 36, of Belle Vue. Both face charges of keeping a firearm without a licence and unlawful possession of explosives.

Police said the charges resulted from intensified patrols and “roll and stop” operations across the Territory, part of ongoing efforts to curb the flow of illegal weapons and reduce gun-related crime.

Nibbs was granted bail in the amount of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on 4 November 2025. Baronville remains in custody pending his court appearance.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool praised the officers involved in the recovery of the firearm and explosives, describing the success as a sign of the Force’s continued commitment to public safety.

“Our officers continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of every community. The recovery of firearms and explosives in recent days reflects the vigilance and professionalism of our ranks. We remain steadfast in our mission to reduce violent crime and prevent the loss of life,” she stated.

The police said members of the public can assist ongoing investigations by sharing information on illegal weapons or suspicious activities. Reports can be made to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or 284-800-8477 from overseas.

BVI News previously reported that three men were initially arrested in connection with a firearm found in Baughers Bay after officers pursued a vehicle from the Pasea roundabout. The men — from Baughers Bay, Pockwood Pond and Belle Vue — were detained on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police thanked residents for their cooperation as efforts continue to tackle gun violence and maintain community safety.

  1. Released on bail says:

Amazing that you can get caught red handed with guns & ammo and still get released on bail.

It does not even matter if you have assaulted police officers before!

BVI is a SPECIAL KIND OF PLACE!

No room in the Prison, evidently. Note the lack of urgency to capture those top of the line murdererers/ escapees…three that we have heard about.
We the people with no inside info such as whereabouts of the known and changed criminals, are sitting ducks. Our lives and property are of no value. As we endure all this, the import and installation of the worse of humanity in the caribbean chain continues in these VI unabated. Irregardless of their population count as the major
occupants in the local prison in addition the carriers of concealed illegal weapons toting students in our schools.

And got bail again….. What is this courts doing???

We had a while whole gun amnesty expecting harsher punishments for gun crimes but everyone caught keeps getting bailed.

Then they back out on the road again and police get blamed.

Is either the jail to full and them bailing gun man or the magistrates them complacent and oblivious to all the gun crimes that has been going on .

Same thing with them young boys called money Boyz . Every minute you blink them on bail after getting caught with a firearm after bail curfew hours!! How??? Bail shouldn’t even be on the magistrates mind. Like them not thinking straight

  6. Locals says:

Let’s be very clear. Many commentators on this and other social media sites, blame all the BVIs ills on foreigners, be they black, white or brown. These two gun-toters are locals and known to many people. I expect that many in the community also know that they have guns (and much more about what they do). So, let’s get real. Unless the local community decides to stand up and denounce this evil, and turn in all those involved with guns and drug-trafficking, then there is no hope for the country and the BVI is heading fast down the slippery slope to anarchy and poverty.
