Police process scene of club shooting for hours

Scene hours after a shooting at an entertainment establishment in Free Bottom, Tortola.

More than nine hours after the fatal shooting at a nightclub in Free Bottom early Saturday morning, officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) were still present at the crime scene.

When BVI News arrived at the location around 10:30 this morning, there were two marked police vehicles from the RVIPF’s Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit at the entrance of the nightclub.

Just a few minutes after our arrival, three CSI officers, two in white jumpsuits and one in plain clothes emerged from the club with a small briefcase.

The area had been cordoned with yellow caution tape.

A man who later identified himself as the owner of the club exited the building as well. The owner told our news team to refrain from taking pictures of his establishment as it was killing business.

Two women who appeared to be workers at the club were at the entrance power-washing some mats. There were also cleaning and disinfectant products in close vicinity.

The two CSI officers in the jumpers left at approximately 10:37 am and the officer in plain clothes removed the tapes from the crime scene and left shortly after.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) confirmed today that around 1 am this morning, a man was shot and killed at the establishment.

The police did not confirm the identity of the victim or the motive behind the shooting. Police have also not said whether there they have any leads on the suspected shooter.

The RVIPF said investigations in the matter are still ongoing.

Club owner worried about photos killing his business. No that his club is the scene of a murder. From the time they said “popular nightclub in Freebottom”, everyone knew which club it was. Geez. Condolences to the family and friends of the victim. May he Rise in Power.

I thought strip clubs are illegal in the BVI. Someone please correct me if that’s not the case. Why are they up and running? Why was a gun allowed inside the club? Where was security? I was suing that establishment until there’s nothing left!!!!!

Its about time that place lost their club license . How many shootings and incidents occured at that place and they still allowed to operate? Surely the owner has a duty of care to his patrons ? How did a firearm get into the premises ? Time to shut it down
