Police seek witnesses after shots fired in Free Bottom

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is seeking witnesses following reports of shots fired at a home in the Free Bottom area shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21.

In a press release after the incident, the RVIPF stated that although no individuals were present when officers arrived, spent shell casings were recovered at the scene.

“In response to this serious matter, the police have engaged the Crisis Intervention Team to offer much-needed support to the residents of the home involved and to others in the community. Additionally, we have increased our security measures by maintaining an armed patrol presence in the area to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents,” Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool said.

This is the second consecutive report of gunshots fired within two days, as the RVIPF confirmed reports of gunfire in Purcell Estate in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 20.

These reports follow a similar pattern, with no individuals found at the scene, but spent shell casings confirming that shots were indeed fired.

There have been no further details surrounding this incident; therefore, the RVIPF urges the public to contact them with any information at the Crime Stoppers line—800-8477 (TIPS), or if overseas, at 284-800-8477.

You can also contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339. The RVIPF assures the public that any piece of information can assist in advancing the ongoing investigation.

They really expect somebody to just call them up and tell them who it is? Jeopardize themselves getting mix up in thing snitching on people for a “Thanks” you can’t even be sure if the person taking your statement on the drug man dem payroll or not. Best bet is to go do some real police work. squeeze the small fries until they give up info on the big fish it’s either they talk or get killed before they talk either way you just got rid of a criminal off your streets that you don’t have to feed up balo. Tourism is our bread and butter the shootings and robberies can’t just be allowed to spiral out of control with no response from law enforcement.
Next thing is we always finding people illegally in the country but we never catching the people who making a business out of bringing them here illegally. Fix that because if people can be trafficked in and out of here so easy then why not drugs and guns as well.
