Premier in Cayman for tourism event then off to UK for funeral
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley is currently away from the territory attending a Caribbean Tourism Organisation event in the Cayman Islands and thereafter to the United Kingdom for the Queen’s funeral.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Cayman Event 2022 will be held from September 12 to 20.
The conference will be the first major in-person event programme for the CTO. The event is expected to be attended by Ministers of CTO member countries, Directors of Tourism, senior executives, media, and regional students who participated in the Caribbean Youth Congress as well as international aviation experts.
With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the status of the conference was up in the air, but the CTO announced the events will proceed as scheduled with some minor adjustments. Nonetheless, the adjustments are not expected to affect the Destination Media Briefings, CTO Business Meetings, Caribbean Aviation Day, and Regional Youth Congress.
Following the conclusion of the event, the Premier will join Governor John Rankin in the UK for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The funeral will be held on September 19, at 11 am at Westminster Abbey. The historic church, with a capacity for 2,000 people, was the setting for Queen Elizabeth’s marriage to Prince Phillip in 1947, and for all but two British coronations since 1066.
The funeral is expected to be attended by numerous world leaders.
During his absence, Deputy Premier Kye Rymer has been appointed to act and carry out the duties of the Premier and Minister of Finance.

Racking up the miles at our expense.
Up to yet he cant go visit Andrew to see how he is doing
so will that day be a holiday in the bvi or not?
Why are you not home sorting our problems out? Instead, you are milking the public purse on every bull$hit trip you can so you can be as scarce as possible!
WO,WO,WO, WOOOOOO.
That money could have help fix some of those pot holes up east
When boy goes to these meetings I never hear.come tell us.what he garnered to put in a better place I don’t if he takes a.delegate to help him along.Je’man a real globe trotter at my expense
This is the best of him. He spends more time away than in the BVI and he does no work whatsoever. He was horrible as a lecturer and even worse as education minister. Now he is Premier and it is the worst thing that ever happened to the BVI.
If you want to travel the World on the tax payers dime, perks, best hotel accommodations and fly first class so you don’t have to mingle with the pheasants in coach or business class simply, go into POLITICS.
Just hope he don’t get set up with * love for the flesh. But he better enjoy his last view months we do not want him he is a useless premier
this government have racked up more air miles than any other government before.well don’t talk about the premier miles. he have by now more miles than some of the airlines flying here.look at the condition of the bvi infrastructure. the road sides have not seen a cutting since last December but the premier on a plane every month staying in top hotels on tax payers money.if it was value for money it would be all well and good but when you have a country that look like trash and I mean trash we the people need to get rid of them all of them.
Or pay Government Employees Increments, or put towards Schools that need completion; or building a main Public Library; or making worthwhile contributions to the Community.
Pheasants?
Hahahahahahahs
Hahahahahahahshsh
Pot holes city indeed ?? East End needs help and they keep digging it up more!
was he even invited or he assumed its like local funerals where you show up late and get a front seat. Show us your invitation you tr**tor
He could learn a lot about tourism in Cayman – they have 8 – 10 Cruise Ships a week – we get 1. They don’t even have a terminal – everyone comes in by tender. Cruiselines hate using tenders because it’s a big expense…so how come all the ships are going there…???
Looks like he and brods are searching the net for every overseas conference he can attend. Yeahh let me get all those trips I could have never afford.
Meanwhile….take a ride to the East. Both premier and deputy probably does go by boat. Its a disaster. If you can’t afford asphalt quick fix buy some mortar mix or something and dump them in.
This place is a mess
Yup. A vacay on the expat dime
He didn’t need to visit Andrew He damn well known what he was doing
Damian always saying that it’s a mistake a foolish mistake to have Alvera as Junior minister of tourism and not Shared Flax who knows the industry. Have to agree. I though this would have been fixed. You wonder of the mindset and seriousness. Then again he is on this important tourism meeting without some one from the Port, the Pier Park, tourist board and I would have like to see someone representing the taxi drivers. This way we can be assured that issues will be addressed. With this one man move. Not good.
The numerous trips are equivalent to numerous managers meetings. They believe that the more of it you do, then the more work it looks like you doing or the more important you appear to be looking. The people who are NOT delusional can clearly see that these people just have waayyy too much time on their hands and really have nothing better to do than appear, disappear and run their mouth. Much ado about nothing really.
WHEN IS ROBIN GOING TO MIAMI TO VISIT BATMAN??????
He mussy done went already. Either that or he stopping there in transit to the UK.
All these wasted trips and nobody learning a dxxm thing.
Come on now, no need for fowl language.
Cruise ships don’t come as they don’t feel welcomed. Their guests report this frequently and this attitude needs to be changed before it’s too late! The Customer survey reports don’t lie.
Its because of some of the comments above that tourists dont want to come to the BVI – its not nice or welcoming. Cayman is very welcoming everybody to its islands – tourists or not.
