Premier on sewerage project: Nothing will stop me!

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has vowed to finally address the longstanding sewerage problems plaguing the Seventh and Eighth districts.

The East End/Long Look Sewerage Project is a critical infrastructure development that has faced numerous delays over the past decade. The issue has been a bone of contention for residents and lawmakers who have long highlighted the need for a proper sewerage solution in the area.

“As District Representative and now as Premier and Minister of Finance, I have pledged to get that problem solved,” the Premier said. “This is a longstanding problem over many years and nothing is going to stop me from accomplishing that task.”

Years of delays have hampered the East End/Long Look Sewerage Project, but the Premier reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its completion. “I’m looking forward to some time in 2025 for us to bring that sewerage system online and certainly before 2027,” he stated.

The project is crucial for resolving public health and environmental concerns in the two districts as currently, untreated sewerage poses significant risks to residents. The new system will include a pump station in Long Swamp to transport collected sewerage to the Paraquita Bay treatment plant.

Repair work at the Paraquita Bay plant is already underway, and the government recently recommissioned the Burt Point Sewerage Plant as part of a wider effort to improve sanitation infrastructure in the BVI.

Wheatley emphasised that the East End/Long Look sewerage project is a priority, adding, “It’s a major challenge that we will address.”

Please can you address the Stench from the Burt Point Sewage plant. Before introducing a new plant in East End. This is not habitable in the area currently.

As premiere nothing can stop me from fixing the sewage plant, oops! The non stop party can stop me, that party 3/4 million dollars is first, sewage can take second place, I am young still and love to gyrate, as a matter of fact those independent countries told me to do that to cool down the disgruntling among the more civic minded and senior citizens by having the millennials create this illusion of happiness jamming and winding.

this is one of the big major problems plauguing the bvi. these are vital and critical issues that have to be looked into instead of stupid crazy nonsense.
we the bvi islanders living in the usa studying at colleges and universities have all kind of problems. people who project that we bvi islanders have a hygiene problem. we are projected as homeless and jobless and penniless and as poor and needy and downtrodden and common criminals. all of college tuition has been wasted and gone down the drain and we cannot even get a bachelor degree in nursing to have employment to be able to help ourselves. every time we try to help ourselves we are knocked back down in the dust off our feet unable to help ourselves.

Its no wonder the reefs are dying in the BVI/USVI….locals don’t give 2 shts.
I’m a bareboat captain who has witnessed terrible stewardship of the waters…..local freighter dumping oil off VG….many more examples of straight pollution directly dumped overboard. Add the non existing sewage treatment…..prevailing wind/tides from Tola bring all the “goodness” to STJ beaches and beyond. Global warming my azz, straight up pollution is killing the coral, and eventually the tourism.

  11. The Answer says:

I thought you wouldn’t post my 1st comment. Cant get any “climate change” money if you admitted the BVI dumps raw sewage in the ocean, especially post Irma.
BVI are bad environmental stewards……cant get outside money for that!
