As the government celebrated its first year in office on April 24, Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has thanked those who voted for his administration and has vowed to continue working to create a better society.

In his national address to mark the occasion, the leader said he is mindful of the biblical teaching which says, “To whom much is given, much will be required” adding that he tries to lead with both humility and assurance daily. Many have criticized the Wheatley administration, saying numerous challenges persist despite his utterances that the territory is doing well.

The Premier highlighted some of the challenges his administration faced in its first year, saying his government continues to move forward with hope despite the setbacks.

“I would like to acknowledge the challenges we’ve encountered over the past year, including securing the resources needed to recover from the worst disaster in our history, brutal inflation brought on by global conflict, the rigorous work of governance reform, the shifting international regulatory landscape, and ever-increasing financial obligations in the face of limited resources. Despite these obstacles, we continue to move forward together, fueled by vigour, hope, and determination,” the leader said.

Despite the challenges the Premier said the BVI has much to be grateful for: “I am positive in the knowledge that God has blessed us with beautiful natural resources that are a wonder for all to see. I am encouraged that our tourism arrivals continue to grow, resulting in some of the best numbers we have seen in our history. I am grateful that our financial services industry continues to be world-class. Our young people continue to make us proud on the international stage, whether through their professional accomplishments, sports, academics, or culture. We have a lot to be grateful for,” Premier Wheatley said.

The Wheatley administration is tasked with addressing many long-term issues related to infrastructure, health, education and the public service, that were left by previous governments.

Still, many believe they should not be pardoned, saying the government complains about having inadequate financial resources, while they continue to spend money on international travel, consultants and music festivals which should not be prioritized right now.

Let is be clear that VIP has been in office since 2019 and Natalio became premier in 2022.

Sure, the Covid years were tough (not tough enough to condone stealing money by two ministers).

But absolutely nothing has happened in the years these clowns have been responsible.

Here you are again. Another day, you predictably start off with the same crap like you always do: Complaining.

The Premier lives in your head. It’s your breakfast to start your day complaining like it’s going to make a difference.

Show your face coward. Go to the Premier and tell him to his face how you feel rather than coming on this forum every morning complaining.

Better, run for office, win, and then show us what progress you can make with:

      Action speaks louder than words.

I know I am speaking to the deaf as you will be right here tomorrow morning doing the same thing.

You know the saying about the doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result? It’s called insanity.

Your complaints are of no value on this forum. It is not going to change none of the things you listed.

Find ways to make a difference rather than complaining all day long from sun up to sun down.

And by the way, I am immune to likes or dislikes. I am not here for the likes. This is not a popularity contest for me. I state my case, and let the chips fall where they may.

I look forward to seeing what you will be complaining about tomorrow morning.

Could it be that he is the only one that is thankful?

To us, the general electorate, there’s little, or nothing that I can think of that I remain thankful for regarding this leader and his performance!

    Truly worried for our Country!

I think if gov would focus on just the roads they be phrased by everyone in the BVI. Fixing the roads reduces the cost of car expenses for everyone. One pothole could damage your car so if they fixed most of the main roads and just focused on that they’d have the BVI peoples thanks.
