Progress Update: Flow Committed to full restoration of fixed network

Leading telecommunications provider, Flow, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the full restoration of its fixed network (broadband, landline and television) and the reconnection of customers affected by the recent passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto.

Despite widespread damage caused by the storm, Flow’s technical teams have been working around the clock to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

Since the storm made landfall, the company has mobilized additional resources, including field technicians and engineers, to accelerate recovery efforts. The priority has been to assess and repair damaged infrastructure, reconnect affected homes and businesses, and ensure that essential services are restored across the Territory.

“Within the first three days we had 95% of mobile connections restored. In terms of the fixed network, we have recorded an improvement from 20% to 93% connectivity of internet service,” said Nadia A. James, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Flow.

“Our teams are committed to restoring connectivity to impacted customers, and they are currently working around the clock, Monday to Sunday, to do this. As our technicians move through our communities, we will provide updates on the areas where repair works are being carried out.”

Restoration work is ongoing in several communities on Tortola, including, but not limited to: Belle Vue, Road Town, Huntum’s Ghut, Lower Estate, Long Look, Greenland, Fat Hog’s Bay, Sea Cow’s Bay, Towers, Carrot Bay, Mount Healthy, Spooner’s Estate, and Chalwell Estate. Work is also simultaneously happening in Virgin Gorda.

“We understand how critical connectivity is for our customers, especially in the aftermath of a storm. Our teams are working tirelessly to bring our fixed network back online and reconnect communities that have been impacted. We are grateful for the patience and support of our customers as we continue to make progress every day,” added James.

“Our goal is to not only restore services but to build back stronger, ensuring that our network is more resilient to future storms. We are fully committed to reconnecting our customers and getting back to providing the reliable service they expect from Flow.”

  1. Approve Starlink now!! says:

A little tropical storm has left people without internet for weeks.
What else is needed by the TRC to open the entrance to satelite internet providers?
Do we need a major hurricane to hit us to prove the necessity of starlink in this market?
