Prosecutors send hundreds of video clips to Fahie and co-accused

Former Premier Andrew Fahie and his co-accused, Oleanvine Maynard and her son Kadeem Maynard, have received additional disclosure (information to be used as evidence) from prosecutors ahead of their trial next year.

Fahie and the Maynards are charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance; conspiracy to engage in money laundering; attempted money laundering; and interstate and foreign travel in aid of racketeering.

US Attorney Shane Butland delivered this additional evidentiary information as a third response to what is known as a ‘standing discovery order’ issued by the court.

According to Butland, his office created a shared discovery folder on a file-sharing site for the defendants and uploaded more than one thousand video files entitled “Embassy Suites Video Clips 1” and “Embassy Suites Video Clips 2”.

Butland did not reveal details such as the source of the video clips in the disclosure document or the period during which the recordings may have been taken.

The court document explained that attorneys for Fahie and his co-accused reported to prosecutors in early November that they were unable to access these files, therefore encrypted flash drives were mailed to counsel for Fahie and Kadeem Maynard containing the video clips.

Fahie’s attorney, Theresa Van Vliet told a Miami court in a previous filing that prosecutors have still not disclosed pages of transcripts taken from ‘voluminous recordings’ of Fahie’s electronic devices seized months ago during his arrest.

In addition to a recent filing of racketeering charges against the trio, this has resulted in their trial being pushed back to July 17, 2023.

This means the Maynards will likely be incarcerated more than one year past the date they were first arrested after a months-long sting operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Fahie remains confined to the home of his daughters in Florida after posting a substantial bond amount.

reminder that the burden is on the prosecutor to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. This trail is in Miami or Fort Lauderdale and if it goes to jury trial the possibly exist that you get a sympathetic jury (think OJ Simpson) . So its not all cut and dry and convicted. A strong case can be made for entrapment and if there is that reasonable doubt ,Head Coach is home. Some might not like to hear it but the possibility exist.

Yes, many actually guilty people go free in court because of a legal hitch hike. That does not mean what happened did not happen. Many people may be found not guilty in court but they know what the truth is. In the end life does catch up with them one way or next.

To those who say he was a good man and did good, yes that he did good, but the heart of all of us desperately wicked. Buy a nice looking potato looking good outside, peel off a few bits and then look to the core, it rotten inside. Man is the same way.

….those from the Caribbean ” to which you refer…. are non familiar with gratitude and human civility. They are 99.9% of the inhabitants of the full to max newly built prison which was a necessity constructed to accommodate them, hu ndreds of additional and resident foreign police force needed and now occupying the VI , security and police guard the children in schools from their deadly weapons..Education has deteriorated and so has quality of our lives.. Fahie installed these folks simply for their votes and to camouflage assist and enhance his illegal activities for personal gain to the detriment of these Islands and its people.
History will not forget. He will pay. He mocked and was warned by the same Jesus and the Bible to whom he ascribed.

Not a good sign. Looks like the DEA was totally wired and has it all on tape/audio. The accused apparently had no clue that while they were going about doing their alleged misdeeds that they were being recorded. We can only imagine what information they captured reportedly on both audio and video.

It’s a fact that the DEA and the FBI routinely record people they are investigating serendipitously to build their cases, but I have never heard of such an extensive recording of an individual(s) like this. It’s as if they wanted to get these people badly, and wanted to build a slam dunk case against them.

It sounds like the perfect set-up for unsuspecting people who were too simple and greedy to realize they had walked into a trap. They probably never suspected the DEA had such footprints in the BVI until they were placed in handcuffs in Miami.

My heart and understanding of these matters tells me this matter will not end well for the accused. Depending on the discovery of the evidence, these folks in concert with their attorneys may be better off considering entering a plea arrangement. I cannot see what kind of exculpatory evidence they can come up with to avoid a conviction.

By entering a plea, they could potentially avoid very long prison sentences. Whereas, if their cases proceed to trial and they are convicted, which in my view is highly likely, the book will no doubt be thrown at them.

The gravity of these accusations is still troubling to me on so many levels. I am still finding it hard to process it all after all these months. How? Why? Why? What about the people who looked up and supported these people? What about the country?

Anyway, one thing for certain is that we will all learn how this matter plays out in 2023. A part of me feels sorry for them because I believe their goose is cooked going up against the DEA and their criminal case.

But then again, where was the sympathy these people were showing to the people of the BVI and the country when they allegedly engaged in illegal activities? One could argue they could not have cared two flying cows so long as they were getting paid.

There are people in the BVI who naively believe they are untouchable within the BVI, and that the BVI is a mighty country on to itself. They might want to change that mindset quickly in light of this case, start flying right if they are not before they get snatched up like these trio.

With the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) having recovered 11,000 kilograms of cocaine over the past 12 months, it’s not a stretch to conclude that the DEA’s job is not done, and others will get snatched up in due time as well.

He will get out because 180 new laws are in full effect as of January 1,2023. Cash bail is one and he will be able to walk free. The purge begins next year, we’re living in the great tribulation times so you best to believe he will walk free. No one will be in jail and jail will be removed because the digital beast system is in full effect and criminals will be mentored 24/7 along with all the other vaccinated people

The budget for police personnel prison personnel free lawyer prisoners food shelter..has got to be astronomical. Is this funded by the UK ?. If not how can the BVI afford and is it fair to the peoples of these islands considering the overwhelming demograhic of the participants. How will the VI be able to maintain this burden so much as an Independent Nation. Resentment and hostility is understood. A disaster either way.
