Public told: Graduation ceremonies are ‘invitation only’ this year
Due to the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), members of the public are being informed that school graduation and exit ceremonies are not open to everyone.
That advisory came via a recent media release from the Ministry of Education.
The release stated: “Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A Fahie has said that the number at mass gatherings including graduations, has been increased to one person per 64 square feet, up to a maximum of 100 people. Therefore, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries & Agriculture is informing the public of the schedule for Graduation and Exit Ceremonies for public and private schools in the Territory.”
So to maintain COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the ministry said graduations and exit ceremonies are by invitation only.
Virtual graduation
In the meantime, certain schools will only host virtual ceremonies.
“Graduation and exit ceremonies for Elmore Stoutt High School and Althea Scatliffe Primary School will be streamed virtually only,” the release stated.
It also said the ceremonies at the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division will be hosted virtually at the Catholic Community Centre.
