Public will have input on audit for Skelton Cline’s contracts — Premier

Claude Skelton Cline

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has assured residents that they will be able to view and have some input on audit reports recently completed on contracts executed between Claude Skelton Cline and the government since 2019.

Those reports as well as those audit reports on the EZ Shipping barge contracts and House of Assembly (HOA) Assistance grants were recently submitted by the Auditor General.

While speaking in the HOA yesterday, January 26, Premier Wheatley outlined the process expected now that the reports have been submitted.

“The reports will be submitted to Cabinet and then laid on the table of the House of Assembly. The public will have an opportunity to review the reports, such that which will require input so that an action plan can be developed on implementing aspects of the reports as determined,” Dr Wheatley said.

The Premier stated that he has already noticed many meaningful recommendations aimed at strengthening good governance and democracy and said he looks forward to the eventual feedback once the reports are made public.

In the meantime, it was disclosed by the Commission of Inquiry Implementation Unit that two independent reviewers completed and submitted their reports on the establishment and maintenance of statutory bodies and on a review of the membership of statutory boards.

It was further announced that these will be submitted to Cabinet as ‘information papers’ and brought to the HOA before the relevant ministries begin public consultation on continuing to change the relevant policies and procedures and requesting legislative amendments.

The place for the audit is the police. Send them directly, without haste, without delay and without reservation. Of course we the public want input we would have it at the court when we attend the trial. Nonsense.

What input the public need to have? If it can be proven that he didn’t deliver anything and the BVI didn’t benefit any way from his “consultancy” services he need to pay it back or go jail… If not then let him go and stop calling his name in corruption… what input the public need to have in this?

  7. ??? says:

Let CSC pay back all those illegitimate consulting monies. He knows hw didn’t provide the Services he was paid for. The Public was not part of the decision making in giving him such contracts, so why must we be involved in the consequential outcome of his personal plight. Let him bear his own demise.

Look at the hateful nature of BVIslanders. People we have a problem. We are too hateful and we love to cause hurt to each other. No one has seen the audit reports yet to see what is entailed but suggestions are being made of being sent to jail just like this? Do we realize that when do things this way we are inviting injustice on our own selves? Today for Claude. Tomorrow for any one of you bloggers. I am sorry for this country. It had become mean spirited, wicked, spiteful. It sickens me.

CLAUD SHOULD BE TREATED SAME LIKE MYRUN IF EVIDENCE FOUND OF MISHANDLE PUBLICK FUNDS TAKE HIM TO COURT LET HIM PROVE INNOCENT, PUBLIC OPINION ON HIS MATTER IS RUBBISH

  13. Anonymous says:

Kindly leave the public out of this please. Let this court of justice have the ultimate say. Why the public?

  14. lol says:

What a hock of baloney. Did the Premier really utter those words?

If there were criminal breaches they should be reported to the RVIPF for investigation and production of a case file.

If there were breaches of the Civil Services then these should likewise be reported HR for investigation.

If the report identified weakness in the system and tightening of controls then these should be reported to the Financial Secretary for implementation of the recommendations.

Where actually does the public come in other than to report the findings and tell us that the Government has taken the required actions and what those are?

  15. Why says:

    Totally unnecessary.

  16. Modern th**f says:

His house supposed to be in the peir park.check the materials on it to pls.

  17. Resident says:

Lock him up, the report said his contracts were blatantly fraudulent

  18. De Silent One says:

That is so hypocritical, the public need not to be having any input as it relates to Cline’s matter. Let the judiciary takes its course where the evidence prove wrong doing, and take the appropreaite action

  19. @ asking for a friend says:

Are you sure? Where’s the link to this figure?

If this is true, this needs to be officially reported and dealt with immediately.

The COI investigations should be ongoing.

  20. @ Licher and Sticher Good says:

All these people running to get Doctorate as though it gives them status while we see that they still lack common sense and professionalism.

A degree doesn’t prove anything; especially these days with online classes where others can do your work and present it as your own.

  21. Here’s a Possibility says:

Hopefully charges are brought while the intent is also to use these two matters as a Case Study on how to remedy the wrongs that were done by executing these contracts hence the mention of public input.
