Two persons from the British Virgin Islands have been named on Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Honours List for 2017, and will soon be formally honoured.

They are veteran educator Cicely Malone and former Commercial Court judge Edward Bannister, QC.

Governor John Duncan disclosed that Bannister is being awarded “Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George for his services to justice in the Virgin Islands”.

Malone, on the other hand, is being honoured as a “Member of the British Empire for her services to education, to the community, and to the church of the Virgin Islands”.

Governor Duncan made the announcements yesterday afternoon (June 17) during a parade held in observation of The Oueen’s 91st birthday.
