Quito’s to reopen by October

Remedial works being done to Quito’s Gazebo in Cane Garden Bay.

Quito’s Gazebo in Cane Garden Bay sustained more than $1 million worth of damage during last year’s hurricanes and is now expected to reopen by October.

Owner of the tourist hotspot, Quito Rymer said he hopes to open his 21-room hotel by that time as well.

The hotel, which is called Quito’s Inn, was initially expected to open its doors in December last year. However, the hurricanes caused considerable delay.

Speaking exclusively to BVI News, Rymer said work has now recommenced on the property.

“Everything went on hold after the hurricane but the Inn had no damage and we are just finishing that up,” he said.

Work continues on Quito’s Inn.

Changes to Gazebo

Rymer said an assessment conducted after the hurricanes revealed that his well-known gazebo sustained some $1.5 million in damage.

The gazebo comprised an indoor space which housed his band and an outdoor restaurant and bar that overlooked the sea.

“There is a price to pay to be in areas like that. But, we are taking it with a smile and building back slowly,” Rymer said.

He explained that the outdoor structure was severely compromised so the restaurant and bar will be moved indoors.

Rymer said no other structural changes will be done to the facility.

The businessman is promising to host a beach party next month in an effort to keep the area alive while the gazebo is being rebuilt.
