Reopening of VG Airport temporarily delayed
The Taddy Bay Airport on Virgin Gorda, which was closed to undergo a scheduled maintenance exercise, will remain closed a few days longer.
This is according to the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA), which had initially planned to have the airport reopened for today, September 7.
But in a press statement dated September 6, Managing Director of the Airports Authority, Kurt Menal said today’s scheduled reopening is being delayed delayed because the territory is currently monitoring an active weather system.
Menal said authorities decided to delay the reopening until the system departs and a thorough inspection of the airport’s new runway surface is undertaken.
“Mr Menal thanks the traveling public in Virgin Gorda for its patience and cooperation as the authority seeks to uphold its motto of ‘Safety is our #1 Priority’,” said the BVIAA, who is also is encouraging persons to contact the Operations Department at (284) 394- 8000 or via email at [email protected] if they have any queries or concerns regarding the closure.
