Remedial works on the Virgin Gorda Police Station and the police barracks are expected to begin in a few weeks.
The roof of the police barracks which is located next to the station was damaged during last September’s hurricanes.
Lower sections of the building also lost windows and doors, while water damage further compromised the structure.
However, Sister Islands Coordinator Vincent Wheatley told BVI News that the matter is being worked on.
“The estimates should be finished by this week the latest,” he said.
According to Wheatley, actual work on the roof should commence next month.
A number of police officers who were based at the barracks have had to seek alternate housing accommodations with families and friends for the past five months, residents told BVI News.
“That is a disgrace,” one Virgin Gorda resident said.
“If the police them not happy, how can they do their work to serve us?” The resident then questioned.
