Rogue gov’t staff blamed for Fahie’s diplomatic immunity support
A widely circulated letter that purports to endorse Premier Andrew Fahie’s notice to the United States (US) courts that he is immune from arrest and prosecution has been disavowed entirely by Acting Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley.
The letter, which is dated May 3 — which bears the letterhead of the Office of the Premier and is stamped by the International Affairs Secretariat — not only endorses the Premier’s argument for diplomatic immunity but also requests his immediate and unconditional release from US custody.
That immunity argument put forward by his attorney Theresa Van Vliet has since been shot down by US Attorney’s Office.
Dr Wheatley said he was in the House of Assembly at the time the letter was issued yesterday while the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Premier, Dr Carolyn O’Neal Morton, was at her desk attending to her normal duties.
Rogue public officer to be investigated
He said they were therefore both unaware of the correspondence and blamed it on a “rogue public officer”.
“It appears that the preparation and sending out of the correspondence were the actions of a rogue public officer who acted without authorisation or the knowledge of myself as Acting Premier or the Permanent Secretary,” Dr Wheatley said in an emergency statement aired on radio and on the government’s official Facebook page.
The Acting Premier said the content of the letter regarding diplomatic immunity for Premier Fahie “does not reflect the position of the Premier’s Office or the government of the Virgin Islands”.
In the meantime, Dr Wheatley said Dr O’Neal Morton is currently engaged with the Deputy Governor, David Archer to have the matter immediately investigated and addressed without delay.
He said Governor John Rankin has also been apprised of the situation and the governor has assured that he will act immediately.

I’m sorry but how is being at your desk an excuse? Even in the most charitable version of this story it comes across as being not aware of your surroundings…during a time when everyone is aware of corruption.
This just underscores why the UK needs to take over.
Why is he so quick to clear the ps. I would think she would be the number one person of interest.
But Fahie’s attorney submitted this as evidence in support of her argument for his release. Has the Government notified the court in Miami of this fraud?

Sacking the rogue staff members and making that public will show confidence that change starts now. Sowande – your speech is welcome but act decisively, do it publicly and make an example. Termination, no benefits. No suspension. This will not have been one person. Build trust. Stop the rot. And don’t forget to tell the US what happened. This letter is not good for public relations. And for god sake get his resignation and public apology or I might have to go rogue and prepare one on official paper.

This is the role of the Governor or Deputy NOT the Acting Premier to yerminate a Civil Servant
That falls on the Governor & his deputy who are in charge of the civil service. The Premier cannot fire or hire a civil servant

We seem to have missed this question in the focus on Andrew and the new government but it is equally concerning. Who represents the Labanese group indeed? Who are they?
8. Are any of them local lebanese?
9. If so, many have businesses. Are any of their stores fronts for washing money or other illegal activities?

More evidence that this Government and the people behind it cannot be trusted to be left in charge of the VI.
No one knows what is going on or has control. More so no one will want to find out who this is. Likelhood is someone up high organised it and now hiding from the truth. Time for a reset as has been recommended clearly by the COI. Bring on 2 years of a UK controlled clearout before we go back to the poles with a new mind set and new people.

Another example of incompetence by the BVI Government and the need for Direct Rule to clean up the mess.
Governor, don’t just address this issue; as some of the departmental heads are used to sending out letters that are addressed by higher officials even though that higher official knowledge of such letters is unknown.

So this person needs to be identified, sacked immediately for acting without authority of the Acting Premier or the Governor and prosecuted. This is why the UK Government has sack all in the Government and the Civil Service and take control – the UK cannot trust anyone of them.
Seize all of the computers and let the document be found and look at the properties as to who drafted it and whose signature it is.
It is forgery if it was sent without authority. They need locking up.
Take all computer rights away and headed paper and interview all staff until the culprit is found.

Fahie’s attorney presented this as evidence this morning with the hope that it would help him gain release. Considering that this is a fake document, the court should revoke his bail. You heard it here folks.

This is a very crafty letter, written by a very sophisticated person to achieve a very specific objective. I’m not sure at this point what that objective was. But I don’t think this was written by anyone in the BVI government.

Some of us are so drunk with the limited power at our disposal that we forget what time it is. This is a serious offense if it is really true. Whoever the culprit is needs a reality check before they end up paying for Capitalism’s Crisis.
Sowande, a bit of advice, the PS to the Premiere needs to be moved, was she lying her mouth off in the COI? That will be the best move!!
If you can’t secure the seal, how can you the secure the money? Who is paying the Premier’s legal bill and 500k bond in Miami? This demonstrates that new election is needed

The British Virgin Islands public humiliation continues to destroy our standing internationally. Confidence in the Government Of The BVI, apparently is being destroyed deliberately. The British Government needs to end the systematic ruination of our reputation immediately.
I dont think this letter is written without a directive from someone……SOMEONE IN FLORIDA!
He is the Premier and perfectly entitled to direct his office whilst he so stands!
