Rosan blasts Premier for dismissing strike claims
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has been accused of making the media a scapegoat after he dismissed recent claims that various entities within the public service had made plans to proceed with industrial action.
At the time, Dr Wheatley accused persons who made the claims about planned strikes of trying to destabilise the territory and urged them to desist from doing so.
But outspoken commentator, Cindy Rosan, dismissed the Premier’s claims and suggested that he was instead victimising the messenger by throwing the media under the bus for simply bringing information about planned strikes to the public.
Rosan represents one of several media outlets that published the claims that members of the public service had been planning to strike.
“I really wanted to say to the Premier in the press conference and I’m trying – I don’t know if people are realising – I’m trying so hard to be civil but it’s going to soon go out the door,” she stated on the Morning Braff show.
She added: “They continue to try to discredit the media when we bring information forward. You know, when they’re saying, ‘oh you know there are people out here trying to destabilise the country. There are people out here with their agendas.’ No, [expletive]! People are calling us and telling us they’re going to strike. People are telling us what’s going on.”
According to Rosan, Premier Wheatley had an opportunity to face the proverbial music but did not do so.
“You still come out and you lie to the people constantly,” she alleged. “And then throw the media under the bus. ‘Oh, we’re making trouble.’ What trouble? Your Customs Officers were going to strike.”
She further alleged that Customs Officers had to be summoned into an early-morning meeting which was hastily called the night before in order to avert the planned strike.
Premier Wheatley has clashed with Rosan in the past over questions she posed to him at a previous press conference where he suggested that the questions were disrespectful and not worthy of a response.

I am not a big fan of Rosan, but when a premier brutally bashes the media, the country is in trouble.
Whether you like her, or don’t like her, the points she’s been making are valid.
Thier incompetence and ineptitude is frightening! That’s inclusive of everyone from the most senior appointed leadership right through to every elected member involved with the Government…
Instead of owning their obvious failures and recognizing change is desperately needed they deflect the obvious with incredulous narcissism and continue to go down the same path ignorantly unaware (or willfully determined) to see the conclusion of their current trajectory all while not having a clue where this road will take us.
Their perception is that as a whole the general public has no issues with the way things are in this Country as we slip down this slope to eventual oblivion all the while angrily responds by pinning that ill-conceived ‘perception’ on a small minority criticizing their ‘impressive work’ as they sail on basking in their own perceived delusions of grandeur!
At what point will we, the citizens of this Country become more vocal with what is happening? It is obvious for most of us to see. At day’s end, it is we the people that allow this to continue, and it is we the people that will suffer the ultimate consequences of our inactions.
Cindy is frustrated because she thought that starting her media house would blow her up to a different level but the opposite has happened. The only platform anyone pays attention to her on is the morning show. Nobody advertises, reads or shares her media page or stories so now she has gone to sensationalist BS to garner views. Cindy get over it, yoy were used for politics and now that its over you have been put on the shelf until 2027. You are rude, out of place and more importantly, YOU ARE NOT A TRAINED MEDIA PERSON!
When will we stop trying to discredit our Government? It isn’t a good look on you Cindy. We got it a long time ago; you don’t like Natalio for whatever childish reason you will not let go of. Did he reject your sexual advances at some time or other? Give it up, please. It’s making you look crazy and desperate.

it is people who can’t see further than their big toe and keep quiet about issues plaguing the country, why the political and social environment of the BVI is the way it is.
