Rosan hits back after leaked settlement document
Media personality Rosemary “Cindy” Rosan has released a public statement following the leak of a document related to her ongoing legal case against the government.
The document outlines a proposed settlement of over one million dollars that Rosan is seeking for her termination from the BVI Tourist Board in 2020.
In her statement on Sunday, October 13, Rosan condemned the circulation of the leaked document. “Almost four years ago, I was terminated by the BVI Tourist Board. I challenged the termination, which is my right, and the matter is currently before the BVI Labour Tribunal,” she wrote.
“This [leaked] page is part of a confidential letter written almost two years ago, that was served on only entities of the Premier’s portfolio, and remained confidential until it was leaked on WhatsApp today,” she continued. “This is most unfortunate.”
Rosan emphasised that she would not comment further on the issue, as her legal counsel would address it in the appropriate forum.
The leaked document, dated October 26, 2022, details a settlement proposal that includes claims for economic damages, non-economic damages, and punitive damages, totalling $1,060,839.32, in addition to legal fees. The economic damages account for lost past and future earnings over two years, including personal financial defaults related to loans, mortgages, and her financial reputation.
The non-economic and punitive damages cited include stress, emotional distress, public embarrassment, victimization, defamation, and damage to both professional and personal reputation.
Notably, a handwritten note at the top of the document reads, “This is why she hates the Premier so much; he refused to give Cindy a million dollars of the taxpayers’ money.” While the document indicates that she is suing for wrongful termination, it does not specify the reasons for her termination or provide supporting details for the claimed amounts.
