Rosan: Public should protest when ‘motion of no confidence’ is laid

Political commentator Cindy Rosan has posited that residents would make an impact if they staged a protest on the same day the Opposition lays its motion of no confidence against government in the House of Assembly.

The motion is being led by Opposition Leader Myron Walwyn, who believes there is widespread dissatisfaction with the Dr Natalio Wheatley administration’s economic management, public services, and transparency.

Speaking during a Facebook live session, Rosan encouraged disgruntled residents to march on the House of Assembly on the day the motion is laid, to send a strong message to the current leaders of the territory.

“I saw that Heritage tried to organise a protest recently and I support anyone who wants to fight for a better BVI. But a really good protest would be when Honourable Myron Walwyn lays that motion of no confidence in the House of Assembly,” Rosan stated.

She continued: “If you’re hurting, don’t like how things are going, if you know there are dirty things happening, you can’t survive — once the motion of no confidence is laid and the debate begins, we need to go in droves to the House of Assembly and surround it.”

Rosan also called on the public to show elected leaders that the electorate holds power and requires accountability from leaders.

Premier Wheatley’s administration has been facing mounting criticism for its handling of several areas of the economy, including tourism, public spending, education and healthcare, infrastructure, and crime.

Those criticisms gained fresh momentum in recent weeks with the current Bank of Asia matter, where the public might lose some $5 million that was reportedly invested after the bank announced it would be winding up its operations.

Some sections of the public are accusing the Premier of dodging questions about the matter, saying he is relying on the results of an internal audit to reveal the answers the public is seeking.

Sindee’s last protest has less persons that the 7 that Heritage managed to get (although at least Sindee’s protestors – her and her kids – did not argue with each other and leave). Heritage told the police to expect over a 1,000 but only 8 turned up.
More persons will turn up to see how few protestors attend than there will be protestors. Please live stream it so we can all enjoy the embarrassment.

Cyndi is always brilliant but the suggestion she is making should be employed differently, instead the country should arrange transportation for individual to go sit in the public gallery of the house to support the opposition, because if they surround the HOA the premier can suggest they adjourn parliament for security purposes, there have to be ways and probably signatures to the governor which we don’t like but is the only independent power outside the premier until we go independent the governor become a figurehead under the control of what would be a prime minister, just a rubber stamp. So we have to relish the moment now that we can call on the governor against a uncaring premiere who ignored us and took $250,000.00 USD and gave it to Vybz Kartel upon his relies from prison.

I think that’s cart before the horse. The public doesn’t work for the opposition. The opposition works for the public. So if the public protests then there can be a no confidence vote, not a civil disruption because some non government representatives are frustrated.

Maybe, just maybe people are not in agreement with Cindy/Heritage with respect to Government’s performance? Was the standard of living any different under NDP? Water? Roads? Power? Were they different under NDP or other administrations? Why is it that the march talk only comes up when these people don’t get something that they want personally? When will Cindy give us a 3 part detailed story on why water is off for weeks and no even water trucks can get water for delivery? Why the roads are the way they are? Are these hard hitting stories and questions reserved for the politicians she doesn’t like, i.e. Premier and Lorna Smith? I don’t think anyone can take her serious when she is selective with her outrage.
