RVIPF launches investigation into devastating Lower Estate fire

These safari buses were destroyed in a Lower Estate fire Tuesday morning.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has launched an investigation into a devastating fire at Lower Estate that destroyed and damaged multiple commercial vehicles earlier this week.

The blaze, which occurred overnight, affected a fleet of vehicles parked in the area. Fourteen safari buses, two coaster buses, one small van and an excavator were destroyed. Several additional safari buses were saved from the fire, police confirmed in a press release. No injuries were reported.

“Initial inquiries indicate that the blaze affected a fleet of commercial vehicles,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force stated. Officers who responded to the scene were unable to immediately determine the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.

“The investigation is active, and all possibilities are being explored,” police said in the release.

Police are now appealing to members of the public who may have seen suspicious activity or have information that could assist investigators. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the police directly or provide information confidentially through Crime Stoppers.

The force said further updates would be provided as the investigation continues.

  2. Accountability is due here. says:

That fire was no accident in my view. 18 vehicles do not simply spontaneously combust. This was an intentional act and there is an arsonist(s) out there responsbile for this.

The person(s) responsible are rather bold and callous in that they did this in clear view of an apartment building whereby people could have lost their lives if that fire had spread to those building.

What I suspect possibly happened here is that whomever sat that fire used an accelerants like gasoline and pourd it on those vehicles before setting them ablaze.

The culprit is a very dangerous person with a vengeful spirit and criminal mindset in my view. If they can cause that much property damage in the middle of a neighborhood, they are capable of worst.

I do not presume the motive here, nor make any assumptions here relative to a motive or even if if was an outside vs inside job. Nevertheless, there are some very spiteful people on this island who will do these kinds of things.

The RVIPF definately needs to get to the bottom of this. They should be asking.

    1. Who had potential beef with the owner of those vehicles?, and

    2. Who potentially stood to benefit from this alleged crime?

There are people who hate on others success and would do these kinds of things. This is a major crime that needs to be solved, and whomever is responsible need to be in a prison cell at Balsom Ghut for a very long time as they are a treat to public safety.
