RVIPF making progress in Pier Park robbery

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has shared new details of the robbery that took place at the House of Luxury jewellery store at the Cyril B Romney Tortola Pier Park last Saturday.

According to information shared by the RVIPF, employees of the store reported that two armed, masked persons entered the store dressed in all white. One of the assailants proceeded to remove jewellery from the showcases, and both fled the scene toward the parking lot with a quantity of the store’s merchandise.

The RVIPF release added that one of the perpetrator’s discharged a firearm while outside the compound but noted that no injuries were reported. Police further noted that the value of the stolen items remains undetermined.

Several leads are being pursued by the RVIPF’s Criminal Investigations Department. However, Acting Commissioner St Clair Amory said he is unable to disclose any details.

“No details on our efforts to identify the suspects in this case can be released to the public at this time. However, we are making steady progress in our inquiries,” Amory noted.

Meanwhile, the RVIPF said it also received reports of gunshots fired near Road Reef and around the Stickett in Long Look near the time of Saturday’s robbery and said those reports are also being investigated.

Police did not indicate whether the incidents were linked in any way.

The RVIPF continued to appeal to witnesses to the robbery, urging persons who were in or around the Pier Park at the time of the incident to provide any information they could.
