RVIPF seeks vehicles amid shortage
In response to operational challenges, including a significant shortage of functional vehicles, the government has announced new tenders for the supply of vehicles for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
The move addresses resource constraints that have impacted the force’s efficiency and response times across the territory, particularly in Virgin Gorda.
Acting Procurement Coordinator Diana Percell-Gumbs highlighted the necessity of the tender, stating that “eligible tenderers are required to have a valid 2024 Trade Licence for the specific type of work detailed in the tender document and submit Certificates of Good Standing in respect of Social Security and taxes.”
Tenders for the new vehicles must be submitted by July 30, 2024. The tender details were released amid reports of operational difficulties within the RVIPF.
During a recent community meeting, Chief Inspector Saif Kaddoura addressed concerns regarding police response times and resource availability. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the RVIPF due to limited resources and the need to prioritize calls based on urgency.
Inspector Kevin Joseph of the RVIPF pointed out that resource constraints meant that the force sometimes had to decide which incidents to respond to based on severity and immediate threat.
This often means that not all calls can be attended to simultaneously, and some may experience delays.
“We always have to prioritize. If we have three reports, we look at one that requires immediate response, and the other two, we have to deal with them when we’re finished,” Joseph stated.

they have too much vehicles already and all brought in duty free unlike us regular folks
So a hundred of them could bungle up in one vehicle and drive round instead of patrolling on foot.
If them dumb a** would stop the reckless driving, picking up their friends and family members to go do grocery and do their laundry, and mashing up the Government vehicles they won’t keep needing new vehicles. Each one of them should be surcharge for each time they hit or crash these vehicles, then they would take better care of them. I am going to start taking photos each time they dropping and picking up persons for personal runs and sending to the Complaints Commission
I hope you take pics of them other Government vehicles at the strip club
The food there is good.

a set of police vehicles bang up all over and being placed on wreckers heading to the dump. When they hit them, they should be held accountable to fix them out their pockets. They come here cant drive a lick!
VG don’t need any put those fat a** women to walk and do the beat instead driving around doing family errands, going beauty salon and having police cruisers Park for hours. We have the laziest fattest waste of officers over here
Everytime they stop me for nonsense I want to ask for a ride out of spite since they already disturb me judging me by looks & want to be in my business with no cause, perhaps now they will have the courtesy to ask if we need a ride when they ask where we live. Everytime, where you live?? Never a helping hand. Predators.
Its our government & out taxes funding them. Maybe you have to be female to get a ride. I dont know.
They don’t take care of the vehicles
Just some time back they get plenty new ride now they want more again. Let them do foot patrón and stop being in the transport like sardine do some walking.
Get those fat police a pedal bike let them lose weight on the job
If they get a new vehicle this week by next week it done beat up. They need to figure out how to fix that problem first.
let them fix and drive all the ones they’ve crashed. wasting our tax dollars.
Those police speed more than regular people. They speed up and down different vehicles with no place to go. They always stopping to hit on women maybe they get hit from watching them too. We the tax payers pay for those vehicles and I say they don’t need anymore
