Scooter rider charged after highway chase
The scooter rider who crashed recently while reportedly being chased by police officers has been slapped with seven charges.
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Rondell Calliste of Purcell Estate on Tortola was arrested and charged on March 10.
The charges against him are:
-Driving without front identification plate
-Reckless driving
-Using of indecent language
-Driving without driver’s license
-Failing to stop at the sound of siren
-Driving unlicensed vehicle
-Driving when not covered by insurance
BVI News Online understands that the police were at the roundabout in Road Town when they signaled the scooter rider to stop.
But the youngster allegedly sped away on James Walter Francis Drive.
The police pursued him, and his scooter crashed with a motorcycle operated by one of the police officers.
The accused was taken to Peebles Hospital where he was treated and released.
