Scooter rider racks up several charges after trying to evade police
A local scooter rider racked up several charges recently after trying to evade the police while traversing Norman Fowler Drive on Tortola recently.
Sources told our news centre that the police were conducting a stop-and-search operation on the thoroughfare when the rider was seen on his scooter without a helmet.
It is reported that when the police signalled to him to stop, the rider manuvered his scooter into nearby bushes. The police, however, gave chase and apprehended the motorist.
BVI News understands that the rider was subsequently charged with Failing to Stop Vehicle at Request of a Police Officer, Driving Without a Crash Helmet, Driving Without a Driver’s License, Driving an Unlicensed Vehicle, Driving an Uninsured Vehicle, and Driving Without a front and a rear Identification Plate.
Our news centre has not yet been able to verify the identity of the accused traffic offender. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court at a later time.

Finally. One down. Now time to get hundreds of others in line and stop the traffic weaving, wheelies, red light recklessness, gun carrying, drug distribution and the complete disrespect for any laws or any other citizens of the VI. And if we cannot bring about a change it is time for a ban of all scooters and then a careful reintroduction so that law abiding legal riders can get back to using their favourite means of sensible transport as a means of sensible transport. Let’s break the link between scooter and criminal and reckless behaviour.
Good. There needs to be more done to keep these disrespectful scooter drivers off the roads. For everyone’s safety including their own.

The war on scooters continues. Ban, crush, disable and destroy them all. You can do your part to save our children. Cut fuel lines, brakes, slash tyres, and burn their seats. If you think that’s too much, just push them to the ground. Lock them to a tree or pole and then call the police. They will crush them if illegal
I was in traffic at the round about and a guy stepped out into the road to cross and a scooter weaved through traffic and almost hit the guy.
They need to be stopped.
