Several young offenders arrested over the summer

According to police reports, approximately 12 young men aged 21 and under were arrested during the summer months of June and July.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has revealed that most of these young offenders are still teenagers. The charges they face range from serious offences, such as firearm possession and wounding, to lesser offences like traffic violations.

In June, a 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with two counts of wounding. Another 17-year-old from Jost Van Dyke faced multiple charges, including taking a conveyance, driving without due care and attention, driving without a driver’s license, driving without insurance, and driving an unlicensed vehicle.

Additionally, a 19-year-old resident of Free Bottom and a 21-year-old from Windy Hill were arrested and charged with burglary. Another 19-year-old was charged with both burglary and theft, and a 21-year-old from Brandywine Bay was also arrested and charged with burglary and theft.

In terms of drug and firearm-related offences, a 19-year-old from Long Look was charged with unlawful possession of explosives and keeping a firearm without a license. A 21-year-old with no fixed address faced charges for carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of explosives, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, and attempted robbery.

Moving into July, a 17-year-old from Purcell Estate was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of explosives. Additionally, a 21-year-old from Sea Cow’s Bay was charged with possession of a controlled drug and unlawful possession of explosives without a valid permit. A 20-year-old from Belle Vue faced charges for possession of a controlled drug and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Although reports for August have not yet been released, the RVIPF announced that a series of arrests were made in response to public disorder.

On August 31, a 14-year-old boy in Virgin Gorda was arrested after an AK-47 assault rifle was found in his bedroom. Police conducted a search of the residence, with the father’s permission, and recovered the rifle along with 18 rounds of ammunition from the minor’s room. The boy was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and unlawful possession of explosives.

  1. Youths lost says:

    Like i’ve been saying..

the next generation of youths are heavily invested in the criminal life style

they idolized and think its the best thing ever

the songs played at festival same thing idolizing criminal behaviour

you even had local rapper like banco bizmol singing it on stage to the youths.

The government nor the community taking this thing serious… last year we had rumor’s of a gun at the school cuz those young boys were fighting..

    invest in the youths.

    scorn criminal behavior.

    promote good morals

find activities to occupy the youths after school..

we had 14yrs old in vg found with a firearm

all these things happening and we not even independent.

if you want an idea how we would be if we go independent just take look at Haiti, Trinidad and jamaica with their murder rates.

parents raise and advise your youths to keep away from bad company.

people pay attention to the songs the youths are listening too. pay attention to the hand signs they are using in photos. pay attention to their social media status/stories they are blatantly showing yall!

look up byron massiah on youtbe
look up kman six on youtube
look up west bank records on youtube
look up banco bizmol on youtube
    look up squash on youtube
and you will see wa the youths are invested in

we all need to frown and scrutinize criminal behavior more often, youths and adults. Get people to talk to the youths at school about hiv and stds, get people to be good role models to talk at the school more often. Pastors visit the school more often and talk to them.

People tend to follow the crowd especially youths and right the crowd is at criminal lifestyle, guns, smoking, dressing skimpy and pants below bottom, gangs vs gangs, gang signs and guns signs in photos. women showing up in local rap music videos with guns….

women we can’t stop you but please for the love of God stop opening your legs for these criminal men only to end up a single mother raising a next future criminal bcuz your lifestyle ain no better from the man you pick. this affects us all!

At 18 one is presumed to be an adult and can vote. Prior to that they’re a juvenile and get special treatment. Stop talking about 21 year olds as young people and treat them as the adults they’re supposed to be.

Too much of Grandma says, “He’s such a good, polite boy.” Time to get tough on these men and expect adult behaviour from them.

No matter what you do there will always be that criminal element, I grew up on Tortola in an era when there was nothing to do, and we never got into any trouble. Society has changed and there should be changes within the BVI to address those changes that have taken place with our society. We may have to reduce some of the FREEDOMS that we currently enjoy which of course will upset many people, it is better to less freedoms than to have a country drifting into anarchy. It is up to the people of the BVI to decide which way they want to go.

    • @THE BVI BACKWARDS says:

Let’s see: join a basketball, softball, football or rugby team. Learn to play a musical instrument. Join a church youth group or the Guides. Go fishing, surfing or swimming. Take up sailing. Become an apprentice and learn a trade like auto mechanics. Take up a hobby like woodworking. Volunteer at the Red Cross, Green BVI or another charity. Spend time with your grandmother learning traditional crafts. Write poetry or just read.

This Government Dependency expectation is typical effect of Niggeritis which emerged in the 60s along with Welfare and food Stamps A method used to foster dependency and underscore the lack of responsibility and ability in a certain named group as being dependent lazy irresponsible…and some of allyo grab onto it as proof of your “less than”position in life with FSN,school supply handouts allyo in “dont have a clue” Hog Heaven.
Your child is your responsibility and this includes daily activities 24 seven until age 18.laying and conceiving is your moral
responsibility in marriage and agreement with a
proper husband/ wife. Spreading your legs and dipping and dabbing for and in everything with no regards fo the proper raising of a child is degrading disgusting and nasty. Further proof of “less than status” which predictably many of you attain and hold on to as your well attained in life as a moomoo and a detriment to a society of worth.

  5. BVI? says:

@BuzzBvi You are saying that because we have some riders breaking the law every day it’s now time to ban scooters from the territory, it is time the police do their jobs and get the law barkers off the streets.

  6. Hmm says:

We need harsher punishment for gun related offenses. If you going to have big man weapons you need to get punish like a big man.

Think we have seen your double racist attack on the African descendants of the Territory, the Eastern Islander and the Virgin Islander

In truth, you are seeking to divide an already divided group against another group of the same race to prove what?

If you are truly a pale person posting that divisive venom daily, you are no better than you recent ancestor.

And, in real human terms, you are in all truths a white devil. None of us would go into your country and post the degrading material reflecting your mind and heart.

Indeed, it is a pitiful example of a prejudiced mind, a hate filled mind, and a very racist individual.

Last, whether you or owing race ever decide to pay your outstanding debts. to us, it must and will be paid, either by human means or by other means not yet known.

True. There’s no place to chill in town except the park which has no shade. * not fit for a movie. No library. Only places to chill are a restaurant, bar & ghetto, pick according to your pocket.

  11. My Voice says:

Pray for the Young Men in the BVI

All these young men dying just like that – some from accidents and incidents, some being gunned down, shot to death, killed on scooters etc.

Then we have another set of young men sleeping on the street, begging for money and becoming mentally insane from drugs and whatever the cause.

Then we have the other set ending up in prison or involve in criminal activities, some do not want to work and is no benefit to their families, the church, their communities and society as well.

Soon it would not have any man for the young women to married to, and young children are growing up in a fatherless society.

There are more than one hundred plus (100 plus) Unsolved Murders in the British Virgin Islands. There is going to be more!
