Smith promises VG Music Fest to create ‘entertainment tourism’
Incumbent Territorial At-Large Representative seeking re-election as a Virgin Islands Party (VIP) candidate, Neville ‘Sheep’ Smith is promising to to implement a music festival in Virgin Gorda.
Speaking on the sister island on Saturday, Smith said he envisions the event to be a tourism enhancement tool for Virgin Gorda, which is located in the Ninth Electoral District.
“Growing up, I always knew Virgin Gorda to be a musical city. It is high time we put that musical skill on showcase through expanding the tourism offering through entertainment tourism through its very own Virgin Gorda Music Fest,” Smith said.
“In addition, that will create entertainment tourism. Look at it. People are going to come out to that same VG Music Fest. Remember it. I’m saying it now because it’s going to happen because when I tell you I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it. And we are going to have a VG Music Fest here,” he added.
The first-term legislator said Virgin Gorda has a large pool of local talent, and that is what inspired him to start a separate event known as VG’s Got Talent.
However, Smith noted that the territory has created a problem by only trying to tap into its local talents through competition-style events.
“We keep competing against ourselves and we need to stop it. So, what we need to do is try to harness the talent from our young people; not as a competition, but as a showcase. And that’s why VG’s Got Talent was born,” the At-Large Representative explained while further noting that the next instalment of VG’s Got Talent will be held on Saturday, April 1.
The event is free of cost.
Smith was speaking at the time in the Valley, Virgin Gorda for the official launch of the candidacy for Ninth District Representative Vincent Wheatley, who is also of the VIP. Wheatley is seeking re-election in that district.

I don’t think sheep and a lot of politicians understand what role Government must play in the economic role of the economy. These things should be done privately and regulated by Government.
The other one doing economic zone to destroy and compete with commercial renters. They just lost but in any case, who will rent the stage for the music fest sheep who will they rent it from Popeye?
That right up your alley, another no bid insider contract for your equipment and stage.
DONT MIND HE…HE JUST WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY FOR HIS STAGE
And they did away with Taste of Virgin Gorda , a major culinary and musical event on VG. Boy sit diwn
Sheep we are putting you out to pasture. Everything you have not done in four years hurry up you just have a few more years to accomplish. This sheep has been a total failure. And when you know that he was worst than sl**ande then you get my drift.
Sheep we are putting you out to pasture. Everything you have not done in four years hurry up you just have a few more years to accomplish. This sheep has been a total failure. And when you know that he was worst than slowande then you get my drift.
Sheep please name one thing you have accomplished! In all of your news interviews all you talk about are things that the government should do. These are only political talking points. For example:
“There need so be more money for the poor”.
“System set up to fail”.
“Smith blasts legislators for constant lateness”.
“Fishers not benefitting from law that was passed for them”.
“Too much focus on negativity in the territory”.
“Support small businesses, big ones don’t bank here”.
“Gov’t should put fisheries building elsewhere”.
“Businesses setting up shop in wrong places with poor zoning”. “Smith calls for increased pension for teachers”.
“Smith calls for greater public involvement in WE dock project”.
Please name one thing you have accomplished as a legislator. Just one!
Why has this useless “ no tender “ member of the cheese shop gang never done any of this before?
Totally agree. They need quick lessons on what Gov’t responsibility is in a free economy. It is not making commercial ventures. Totally inappropriate and shows their lack of understanding
Imagine we hire people to do a job and they steady telling us what needs to be done instead of doing it.
Yeah then you get another lucrative contract to provide stage and sound – Sheep, you must really think the people here are stupid? You’re never getting back in – go join your friend head coach!
Don’t forget:
*We fired Cindy because she was disrespectful.
*There are no poor people in the BVI.
*Smith back with another gov’t contract as COI probes.
*Smith seeks retroactive exemption for months-old gov’t contracts.
*Premier seeks exemption for Sheep as gov’t awards contract to legislator’s company.
No, for this one he is going to give the stage and equipment for free thinking we are all stupid to vote for him again.
Boi Mutton you’re way past your ‘use by’ date and have expired. Nothing of substance have you contributed in your (4) disappointing years as a Territorial At-Large Representative. What you have managed to accomplish though, is a trail of no-bid and exempted government contracts!
If any of you were ‘honorable’ the lot of you would not be coming back soliciting our votes! Shameful and disgusting bunch.
Is that the best you can do ? With all the problems here you speak about a music festival. Get serious then we’ll listen. Priorities ?
Premier promise us one this year
Thats a great Idea. I never heard him say that before. Why now? Its a brilliant Idea, move music fest to VG or give VG a music fest…NDP mash up music fest, Ronnie and kedrick mainly and Smith was so weak. I believe VIP can revive music fest. Smith is in for his personal gain..Sowande can make it happen.. keep sheep out, no system rental nothing..
Its to meet their own business need or greed. The more festivals, the more stage rentals, the more money in his pocket.
Wait .. he said there were no poor people in the BVI.
Sheep will be re-elected hands down
…and 2 thumbs! ??
