Sowande to weigh in on $721M recovery plan

Leader of the NDP government, Premier Dr D Orlando Smith (left) and President of the VIP, Dr Natalio ‘Sowande’ Wheatley.

President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Dr Natalio ‘Sowande’ Wheatley will be publicly weighing in on government’s $721.3 million recovery plan.

Since its release, there has been much public discourse on the proposed plan which government claims will be financed by a combination of grants, loans, insurance, statutory borrowings, government spending, private sector partnerships, and support from non-government organizations.

Dr Wheatley will be lending his voice on the subject today during a new programme ‘BVI Have Your Say’ on radio station, CBN.

“I am very happy to be a part of this inaugural programme because post-Irma the people need a voice more than ever. Since the storm, the community has not had the opportunity to comment on many important matters occurring in our community,” Dr Wheatley lamented.

“Individuals should have an opportunity to discuss and listen to various ideas on how we rebuild. The people need to take ownership of a recovery plan which they have helped to formulate and that they approve,” he added.

The new radio programme will be host by social commentator Doug Wheatley on Wednesdays at 8pm.

All of a sudden everybody cares. After 2019 they will all go in the bushes like the crickets.

    Can’t wait….(sarcasm font!)

  3. Jokes says:

They need a team of design and engineering professionals to weight in on things, What can would-be politicians bring to table?

You people in the BVI make the dog sick. Wheatley is a very intelligent man who cared for his country. We need to be glad that this young man is of positive and progressive vibes rather than try to tear him down out of blind love for the corrupt.
