Survey identifies most needy
The Government now has a better idea of the persons who are most in need of aid, Director of the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Sharleen DaBreo has revealed.
Addressing a media briefing on Monday, she said this was due to findings from an official survey conducted.
“Everyone has been affected; we understand that. But, there [are] surveys that have been carried out and we have an idea – district by district – the individuals who have not been able to access the supplies or haven’t been able to access as much as they need,” she noted.
“We are looking at the elderly; people with physical challenges; individuals with children; people who have nowhere to go.”
Ms DaBreo gave the assurance, however, that despite the focus being placed on needy individuals, everyone will receive supplies.
“Individuals who are in the shelters, that data is being collected now and is being analyzed. So, yes the system would allow for everyone to get, but we also need to make sure that those vulnerable individuals, the aid is reaching them as well,” she said.
