Teacher’s car glass smashed after student’s suspension

The vehicle in question.

The rear glass of an Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) teacher’s SUV was shattered earlier this week after a student allegedly struck the tailgate with a baseball bat.

Reports reaching BVI News suggest that the student had been disciplined over an infraction at the school and was handed a suspension for poor behaviour. Sources claim the youngster damaged the vehicle in retaliation.

It is not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously injured as a result of the incident, but reports suggest that the teacher’s children were in the car at the time and were affected by the shattered glass.

It was further disclosed that the student is a member of the junior section of the ESHS but it was not immediately clear the grade to which the child belongs.

A widely circulated video shows the child being escorted into the school building by what appeared to be a security officer of the school after the incident occurred.

Police reportedly visited the scene of the incident but it is not immediately clear whether any charges have been brought in the matter.

Efforts to confirm whether the student was arrested over the incident were unsuccessful up to the time of publication.

And they want to recruit children to teach children? Just pay teachers what they deserve and stop looking the fast way out! This is the Gov problem. They never aim to solve solutions but alway looking for shortcuts that aren’t viable and ends up being a waste of Gov money.

Sue the parents, the child, the school and the government. Imagine when high school students become teachers. A war waiting to happen. Sorry to the children of the teacher who were affected by the stupidity that is plaguing the nation at all levels of society. Sorry for the teacher who have to spend the money they already do not have enough of to address the mess. Hopefully, their insurance provider replaces glass at no cost to the insured. I would not recommend anyone to be a part of that mess called the High School.

  6. Unacceptable behavior. says:

If indeed this student is responsible for this despicable act, I hope he was arrested. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated under any circumstances and should not be swept under the rug. His alleged behavior does not bode well for his future.

Clearly there is a behavior problem that needs to be addressed as well. Violence is never the answer. This time its a baseball bat. Next time what will they do?

You all sound so stupid! We all had issues when we went to school, that’s life. All ESHS students are NOT bad students, the problem is only negativity is highlighted because sadly we have become a sick set of people scrolling day and night for negativity and drama to make us feel better about ourselves. While there’s much to be done to improve our education system, the way the entire system is being portrayed due to a few bad apples is sickening.

  20. @Hear me out. says:

The days of disciplining children in that manner are over. You simply cannot hit other people’s kids nor even your own today without the possibility of the law getting involved.

This student crossed a line that needs the attention of law enforcement. I get your point however. IMO kids who behave this way do not do these things in isolation.

I would bet he has a history of defiant and oppositional behavior in his home. No kid just get up and take a bat to a teachers car back window. Unacceptable.

He needs to be held accountable for his behavior, and he needs a police visit with cuffs and his day in court. He also should be made to pay to repair the teachers vehicle and made to apologize before he is ever allowed to return to school. Enough.

  21. @wew says:

Yep, and let’s add the abuse the expat teachers does have to go through from both students and parents who are local….They call them all kind of names and tell them to go back where they come from when they try to discipline the local students.

  22. @Nonesense says:

I agree with most of what you say regarding this incident, but there a few issues at play here, and they all need to be addressed.
    1. Children are out of control. Parents are primarily responsible for their children, but the teacher also has to have the wisdom and professionalism to handle difficult students. The first question I would ask is if the teacher contacted the child’s parents or guardian regarding the suspension. An adult should have been summoned to the principals office where suspension notice would have been given, and not given to the child without notification of the parents or guardian, because at the end of the day, the parent or guardian will have to come and deal with this matter of the damaged car now, so why not call them about why the student had to be suspended in the first place. If they were called and did not show, then that is another issue to be dealt with.
    2. The fact that the student did such an act indicates that this is not the first time the teacher and the student had a running. Who mitigates these matters? Could it be that the teacher in some way provoked the student to act like this? In any case, the behavior of the student cannot be condoned, regardless of the circumstances. Respect is a fundamental issue that needs to be practiced by everyone. It is an unfortunate incident that should not have happened, but hopefully some lessons would be learned from it by all concerned. And nothing like this will ever happen again in our schools. Pray for the students and teachers. The whole system needs prayers.

@Elmore Student:Your grammar is disgusting being a student, and you have the heart to put such a prestigious name to your ignorance?? Meson leave Mr. Elmore name out of your rude mouth until you learn some manners and respect!!….

  24. Intervention says:

The teacher did not provoke the student. The student appears to have some challenges that he clearly needs help with. Hopefully, his parents and the school/Ministry/Department can see to it that he receives the help and intervention he needs to steer him away from future behaviours of similar nature. Hopefully, this situation is not swept under the rug and then God forbid something of similar nature happens again for matters of this nature to be seriously addressed.

  25. ESHS student says:

She didn’t while she did, she got the boy suspended from his bus for 2 weeks because he threw water on the same boy who was in the car (this was a whole other week ago tho)

  26. Mold says:

Mould getting to the children’s head now

  27. Change says:

our approach in teacher/student relationships. Be kind one to another. Conversation, counsel diffuses anger.

  28. Suspension fails says:

Stop suspending students. Give them community service or make them do extra work but sending kids home to sit in their bedrooms creates more harm than good. I don’t condone the act of damage to the vehicle but we have to look at our existing measures and why they are not working to get our kids on to a better track. Suspension means more work for the student to catch up and greater isolation. It doesn’t work.

  29. Help is needed says:

Someone needs to ask the boy what is wrong and what pain is he feeling. He clearly needs a role model

  30. Wtf says:

    @zHear me out

If he was my child I will cut his ass until he can’t stand up. Then he had to work to fix the car he damaged. Further, let me say this “f**k all you children spoilers who are going to blog about child abuse. Most of the young criminals are in jail because of a lack of discipline. Parents get back to basics.

  31. SMH says:

I don’t suspension is working as the children just stay home and watch tv and play video games or go roaming while their parents at work. they should be made to do mandatory counselling and community service, clean the roads, paintings, some hands on work. suspension is like a holiday from school and the children like that.
