The Boys open another gas station on Tortola, plans to go territory-wide
Months after opening their first gas station and convenience store in Sea Cows Bay, the local business owners who have dubbed themselves ‘The Boys’ have branched out to Huntums Ghut.
The new location – formerly known as ‘Huntums Ghut Service Station’ while it was still under different ownership – officially opened on Saturday.
“We started the one in Sea Cows Bay, and people seem to like it. They like the service, they like the colours, and we decide to venture off and try different locations, and this one came available so we decided to see if we can make it work,” part owner of The Boys Service Station Ltd, Rodney Simmons, told BVI News.
Simmons said there will be a convenience store added to the location. He further said plans are afoot to expand the business territory-wide.
“We are hoping to branch off to other places real soon,” he noted.
Employment opportunities
Among the benefits to the business venture is providing employment opportunities for residents, Simmons said.
“We create jobs for people who ain’t work since the hurricane.”
The company has 12 staff members in Sea Cows Bay and roughly five in Huntums Ghut; including those that were previously employed at the facility.
He said part of the success of their business is the public display of their prices which he described as competitive.
“You see the problem with Tortola is nobody had their prices posted on the side of the street, so people were just buying gas here, there and everywhere. But, they weren’t sure what they were getting,” Simmons said.
“[When we first joined the markert],People start comparing prices, and our prices are really good,” he added.
The businessman said their new gas station promises the same ‘competitive rates and excellent service’ as their Sea Sows Bay location. The Huntums Ghut location will open from 6 am to 10 pm on weekdays and at 11 pm on weekends.

Stopped there a couple of weeks ago. Very impressive ! Good luck
Think East End badly needs one.
When people coming in here in short tear up pants to buy yachts and villas nobody asks about due diligence. Keep investing guys, the SCB station is excellent and a true example of what a service station should look like.
Well if they have retained the staff I hope they retrain them. My most blatant racist experience was at that gas station under previous owners. I have not returned.
