Theodore Burke to chair BVIAA after Lake, Sylvester’s terms expire
Cabinet has approved the appointment of a new Board of Directors for the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA).
Theodore Burke, who was announced as the Board’s new non-executive chairman, was appointed along with Michael Thomas for a period of three years.
This was disclosed in a Cabinet post-meeting statement issued by the government yesterday.
Cabinet further approved the appointment of Susan Daly, Kevin Fahie and Selvyn Dawson as non-executive directors of the new board. They have been appointed for two-year terms effective from August 31.
The release said the Cabinet acknowledged the expiration of the chairmanship of Bevis Sylvester and the expiration of appointments of Patsy Lake, Kelvin Hodge, and Marlon Chocoutou as members of the previous board of directors. The Cabinet statement also acknowledged the resignation of Nathaniel Isaac as a previous member of the board.
According to the statement, the Financial Secretary, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation & Works, and the Director of Tourism have also been appointed as as ex-officio directors on the BVIAA Board.
Members of the board, the statement further noted, will be paid a stipend with the Chairman receiving $1,250 per month and other members receiving $800 per month.

Daly??? How tf do they find these people for the positions??? No wonder the territory is in this state SMH
What has happened to the concept of “community service”? Why are we having to pay these people? Every citizen of the Territory should, like jury duty, contribute to furthering the well-being Territory by performing community service. Use the stipend money to further education, improve services, increase the quality of everyone’s lives, not just these board members. It is a privilege to live in this wonderful place and everyone doing so should give back for that privilege!
Shut your mouth. Talk facts. Some of you are so bias and hateful. What about MT who was on all boards during the gravy train days of the NDP and is now back in the saddle again. I guess once you have money and criticize and keep the right friends then you can get wherever and whatever you want in the BVI. This one is worse than anything you are posting about anyone else.
Of these individuals, I hope they review all salaries and shake up the management there. Keith, Luce, and that thief from maintenance need to resign. All the salaries paying out for people who only walk around not being productive.
Daly is a good and solid choice. You obviously do not know the young lady.

All I would say about every one of the recent appointments is that the commission of inquiry was a waste of time and this place will never ever clean up.

This is the Board that should be running all the Ports “Air & Sea” This is better constructed than the Sea Port Board. We have too many boards.
Any time l hear someone ask why persons are given stipend to be on a Board it tells me they do not have a clue all that is involved to be a Board Member.
There is this misconception that you just show up for meetings, and persons are not aware that there are documents you must reviewed and policy decisions made that sets the tune for the organization. When a few members of the general public/know it all’s are free to just be on social media speaking freely about what they know nothing about, you are up late studying in an effort to serve them while they curse you for doing good on their behalf. But then again how dear you make some gas money and a little extra as a thank you.
