Three arrested in connection to Jaquan Thomas’ murder

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has arrested three people on suspicion of murder in relation to the shooting death of Jaquan Thomas.

According to a police press release, the arrests happened during an operation yesterday morning which targeted several premises on the western end of the island.

Two more people were arrested for firearm and drug possession offences.

The RVIPF said one of the five people arrested was detained while driving a vehicle along the Waterfront Drive yesterday. Their names have not been released and no charges were laid.

In the meantime, the operation included officers from the Major Crime Team, the Special Investigation Team, the Armed Response Team and the Intelligence Unit.

The press release stated that a substantial number of firearms, along with cash and drugs were recovered. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, the RVIPF said no more information can be released at this time.

Police continue to make its appeal for anyone with information about Thomas’ murder to provide that information to the Major Crime Team by calling 368-5682.

Thomas was shot and killed in Apple Bay on January 30. He was the first murder victim of the new year in the territory.
