Three males arrested for guns and ammo found in vehicles

Road Town Police Station.

Three male suspects are in police custody following the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s (RVIPF) seizure of three high-powered firearms this week.

A media release from the RVIPF stated that the guns were recovered in two separate incidents.

The first incident occurred on Monday, June 24, 2024, when police officers, acting on specific intelligence, attempted to stop the driver of a Kia Soul in the Johnsons Ghut area.

“Upon seeing the officers, the driver immediately abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot to evade capture. Enquiries continue toward identifying and locating the driver,” the RVIPF stated.

A subsequent search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered a Micro Draco 7.62 calibre rifle and a 5.56 calibre rifle equipped with a silencer. A significant amount of ammunition was also recovered along with these weapons, the police said.

The second incident happened on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, when RVIPF officers conducted a stop-and-search operation in the Huntum’s Ghut area. A vehicle was searched, and a 0.40 calibre pistol with several .40 rounds of ammunition was discovered. The police also found and seized several items suspected to have been stolen.

Commissioner of Police Mark Collins commended the police for their bravery and effort following the seizure.

“These recoveries highlight the relentless commitment of our officers to ensure the safety and security of the Virgin Islands. We continue to act on intelligence and conduct operations to remove illegal firearms from our streets.”

The RVIPF encourages the public to confidentially call Crime Stoppers with any information relating to these crimes at 800-8477 (TIPS) or, from overseas, call 1-284-800-8477.

The police stated that any information could be pertinent in solving these crimes and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

  1. Plain and simple says:

When the police do stop and search and they find weapons, tell the occupants to get out the vehicle and start running then start blasting………………… then ask questions later. Sick of these parasites with these guns. The DPP will probably let them out on the streets since she is always fumbling everything.

The Defendants are saying that the crime is so serious that it must be prosecuted by the DPP and not one of her other staff! Why would they say that?

    • @WAIT…..WHAT? says:

The person is saying when the police pull over, spot check/stop and search and they find weapons in the vehicles, to ask occupants to exit the vehicle and tell them to start running and use the weapons that was found on the…… to eliminate the problem. More than likely the weapons was being transferred to commit a crime or rob someone or someone’s business.

  9. ... says:

Wow the hatred. The only uncivilized mutts are the ones calling for extra-judicial police killings. Too shameful for the decedents of slaves to call for dehumanizing their own race.

What happens in the USA & what happened in the Philippines is & was an atrocity & crime against humanity.

Furthermore the recent UN statement that the war on drugs has failed completely & causes MORE crime have fallen on deaf ears.

If you cant trust the police & there is no unity to stop us fighting each other obviously the weapons & crime will proliferate.

We stopped crime before it happens by being a small community and there were social outlets for struggling people.

God knows how many times those married women got assistance some got their bills paid yet when I was injured & unable to work social development ask if Im male and that was it, no help. Isnt that corruption? People dont care about that type.

Id advocate for no guns as I did but the police struggle to rise for a fire outside the station, and when my money was stolen never allow me to place a report. BS my money was stolen.

I dont know what their job is after that but protection is not it, all they concern about is drug bust.

When you see that happening how can they say come for more serious matters.

It is clear you are on your own so I dont blame them for this gun proliferation when police are the clean up crew.

Iv seen man shot bleeding out on the ground with my own eyes, after hiding with the public while them shooting out, everyone praying they dont run in our barricaded building.

Id rather there be legal outlets to protect ourselves than this BS. The fire men dont claim sole ownership of the fire extinguishers. It hurts me to hear of that Spanish man get killed in town close to the banks and up to date not one arrest.

Self defense is your own this whole system is screwed up some people will be like an ostrict, it doesnt affect them until they feel it. They are different & ‘good people’ that’s why they advocate with their racism about police killings.

  15. @Look HOT JOKES says:

One of the reasons we are laughing stocks is the BVI is allowing all types of Harry, Dick and Sues into the Territory that is useless to the betterment of the Territory. They are not just coming because of the American dollar, the majority of them knows they can come here and do as they damn well please and get away and do things they can’t do where they come from. Anyone that is allowed into the Territory should be fully vetted. If you are not here to help benefit the Territory, then you should be asked to leave.ASAP.

  16. This country says:

It is time we make a decision about the type of country we want.

Yes, there is a problem with youth crime, but maybe they are only following the example of so-called law abiding citizens. Consider the following examples:

Lawyers, who are officers of the course, in relationships, some by way of marriage, with know criminals.

A leader of at least one law enforcement agency married to a known drug runner

Politicians seeing nothing wrong with drug running and failing to see the links to guns and murders

Community support for all kinds of crimility, except when certain people start feeling the pinch of the crimes

Judges and Magistrates having more sympathy for the criminal than for the victims

DPP doing her best to lose every case and still in office because people are afraid to hold “local” to account

Commissioner of Police taking more holiday than all his predecessors together. Every time they look this man he is on a flight

Every time the force needs need a chief of police, they look for another UK national, who seem to see the job as a 3 year vacation. No long-term ties to the community so they do not really care.

Prison system that offers almost no rehabilitation whatsoever and prisoners behaving like they run the prison.

Many things need to change, but it must start with the people.

Anyway, good work from the police, at least some of them, because some of them need to be fired for lack of performance.

Assuming we both have read the same article then reading comprehension or the lack of is your issue. The author identifies the problem in these VI as thie infiltration with the accompanying lack of civility as the result of the VI’s infestation by the updeislun segment. If there was no infestation there would be zero need of international police groups to attempt the coralling of the animals.we know this because not too long ago the updeislun folks in these Vl were rare to nonexistent. A time of zero crime civility reigned and we know that anywhere and everywhere they Infest…US UK Canada.. the location of their infestation becomes sordidly criminalized very quickly as theymake themselves “at home”. We know that there are least a hundred more varied demograhic that has made these VI their home but consistently the updeislunfolks demographic is the sole community spoiler.

  21. Sigh says:

  24. Now you see says:

Why they are called Uncivilized Mutts or Bush people @MIRROR & company?

  25. Some say says:

The immigration agency is responsible for letting in the undesirable people into the Territory. This place is done and I don’t see any changes that is going to take place, maybe in the next 15-20 years. This place is filled and getting fuller of the undesirables that is of no benefit to the Territory and is responsible for the way the Territory is falling/failing.
