Three men arrested for gun found in Baughers Bay

Not any of the exact guns mentioned in the story.

BVI News understands that three men have been taken into police custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm following a late-night police operation that ended in Baughers Bay earlier this week.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the incident occurred on the night of October 28, when officers were patrolling the Pasea roundabout area.

Sources say officers observed a truck coming to an abrupt stop before turning around and driving away from the cops. The police reportedly gave chase and eventually caught the driver in Baughers Bay.

It is understood that officers apprehended the 30-year-old driver, a resident of Baughers Bay. A handgun was later discovered in the area where he was stopped. He was subsequently arrested and interrogated by officers.

BVI News also understands that two other men — a 37-year-old resident of Pockwood Pond and a 36-year-old resident of Belle Vue — were later arrested in connection with the same firearm. It remains unclear whether the police were acting on specific intelligence or how the three men are connected to the firearm found at the scene.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the men have been granted bail or whether they will appear in court to answer charges related to the firearm.

The arrests come amid growing concern about gun-related crimes and violence across the BVI. In recent months, there has been an uptick in shootings, robberies, and other violent incidents — many of which are believed to involve younger individuals in the community.

Police have continued to appeal to residents to share information that could help curb the spread of illegal firearms and maintain public safety.

How can guns accumulation in the Territory be stopped unless the source of importation is found, exposed and accounted for?

There is no genuine effort being made to stop gun importation or its violence because, the culprits are the higher and richer class stratum of the society.

Law making and enforcement are clearly seriously compromised.

Why, they can find a nickel bag in a trailer, but can’t’ fine a crate of guns, ammuniion or a ton of cocaine.

    Law is bought not enforced.
