Tourists find cocaine floating near Nanny Cay waters

BVI News has been reliably informed that a large bag containing bricks of cocaine was found floating near Nanny Cay, just two days before a similar discovery was made in waters in Road Town.

The bag was reportedly found by yachters vacationing in the BVI. It’s understood that the visitors were attempting to sail but noticed that their boat was being interrupted by an object in the water.

Further checks revealed a large bag was obstructing their boat. When the visitors pulled the bag from the water, they realized that it was loaded with cocaine.

They reportedly handed over the drugs to the owners of a yachting company in Nanny Cay, who later called the police. Our news centre was not able to ascertain the quantity of the drugs found.

It’s also understood that police were seen patrolling the Nanny Cay area last Friday after the discovery was made. However, it is unclear if they found more drugs.

Just two days after that Nanny Cay find, police discovered a number of cocaine packages floating close to the Road Town ferry terminal. The seven bricks were taken away to be examined and processed by officers.

Releasing drugs to float ashore is a common practice that dealers use to tranship narcotics through the Caribbean without being caught. In the BVI, criminals have been using creative means to move drugs through the territory.

The police have managed to stop some shipments from passing through, but residents believe far more passes through the BVI waters due to porous borders and a coordinated drug network in the territory.

Earlier this year, aircraft carrying cocaine landed on Anegada and cops were able to seize large quantities of drugs. However, many believe that the planes were a decoy to allow the movement of a larger quantity of drugs through the BVI’s borders.

No surprise. That area has more activity than people would believe but because of their color and affiliations they are always protected and ignored by the law.

Usually there would be scams to avoid. Nope.

“When the visitors pulled the bag from the water, they realized that it was loaded with cocaine.

Calling the police would have been the better option. Its sad how many people want to make money off a substance they wouldn’t take themselves… unless that’s their thing… then joy at finding a bag of your passion is understandable.

Maybe those tourists had enough street smarts to not to want to be involved with the police themselves. Dont trust the traffickers. Don’t trust thr police either.
