Two charged for Pier Park robbery
The following is a media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force charged two men last night in relation to last Saturday’s robbery of House of Luxury jewellery store at Cyril B Romney Pier Park.
Charged for robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence are Shamul Mitchell, 35, of Sand Box Road and Jelani Marquis, 27, of Hannahs Estate.
Both will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.
Last Tuesday, Acting Commissioner St. Clair Amory said that while no details could be disclosed, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Department were making steady progress in their investigations into the robbery.
“It is very difficult to resist the temptation to respond and defend the Force when those in the community give commentary on its actions or inactions. However, compiling the necessary evidence to charge perpetrators of gun crimes takes time and requires a great deal more effort. In these types of investigations, unfortunately, the least said, the better for us,” he said.
He noted his gratitude to the officers for the long hours and dedicated teamwork and the assistance of members of community that brought about these arrests.
Last Saturday at around 2pm, officers were called to the scene of an armed robbery at Pier Park. Employees of the store reported that two armed masked individuals entered the store dressed in all white and removed several pieces of jewellery from the showcases.
Both fled the scene toward the parking lot with a quantity of the store’s merchandise. The value of the stolen items is undetermined at this time. One of the perpetrator’s discharged a firearm while outside the compound, however, no injuries were reported.
The RVIPF continues its appeal for witnesses to the robbery. Several persons were around the Pier Park at the time of the incident. Those who witnessed the robbery are asked to provide any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
Alternatively, persons can give this information anonymously to Crimestoppers at 800-8477-(TIPS).

2 real cl●wns. These criminals are watching too much foolishness on tv and getting dumb ideas…or maybe they’re naturally dumb, I don’t know. The more of these cl•wns we get off the street, the better. Great job to the RVIPF!
Bursing Shots for no good reason was their mistake..Once shot burs things go to another serious level. All that good planning, forehead lights to throw off Cameras, I learn something, maintenance out fit to throw off customers and workers.. I have to congrats The Police. Only two?. Wasn’t there a get away driver and someone in Pier Park giving them the clear to go call. ? Just asking..
Two future Dr’s there. Idiots should charge with attempted murder as well
I am proud of the RVIPF for the arrest of these two perptrators in a very short window. We are a small, peaceful community and these young people must not be allowed to turn this Territory into the wild, wild west. More patrol is needed in the capital, please as it will dissuade this type of activity. GOOD JOB RVIPF.
And to the Labour Department, before thousands and thousands of work permits were issued every year, we didn’t have so many young boys sitting idle on the block. We didn’t have so much theft and petty crime. I know the excuse is they don’t want to work. So let’s talk to them, give them the opportunity to interview for jobs and see if they are willing to work. We pass them on the road and say they are lazy, but some of them are willing to work and are well mannered young men who will soon learn bad behaviour like smoking and robbery. Some are going to need encouragement. Some will fall in line without it. So we can choose to bring in young men and women from everywhere, even the Pacific and leave our own unemployed. Personally there is no choice to be made. Make sure your own are working before you import workers.
Another post in a different article said those pics with the forehead light wasn’t real.
Plus where in Pier Park you see any maintenance worker in white overalls….nowhere.
Dumb and Dumber brought attention to themselves and their plan was foiled before it began.
They do not need to even get bail.
….ayo don’t worry ?- I’ll make an appearance and the rest is history…..
Somehow I feel that there are more people involved in this.
Ages 27,35 man should have more brain matter even for updeislun turd. The one that fired the loaded gun callously and recklessly at departure from the scene of his crime celebrating his homicidal and parasitic nature needs to be caged for life.
Three of their comrades, killers etc and long term prison freeloaders were released and deported to their respective updeislun last week freeing up space for these two at Balsum.
Human facsimiles such as these should be caged in the UK or their countries of origin for maximum effort at rehabilitation. The facilities at Balsum
has zero redeeming value in “punishment fit the crime”
Some businesses in Pier Park have outside Pest control contractors. That was the deception. It was a good one..
One must be named dumb and the other dumber
Reckless Endangerment for sure!!!!!
Interesting how this site killed on its readership even to such hot articles. News flash the Anti-BVI rhetoric has achieved something.
