Two charged with wounding after prison stabbing

Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut.

Two inmates, Andreas Norford and Essadro Jefferson, have been charged following a stabbing incident at His Majesty’s Prison in Balsum Ghut.

The event occurred on Sunday, May 12, after 4 pm, which resulted in one inmate requiring medical treatment at Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital.

The accused have been charged with Wounding with Intent and are currently held at the prison pending further legal proceedings.

The recent stabbing incident contributes to the concerning pattern of violence within the prison.

Another serious event resulted in the death of inmate Nickhail Chambers three years ago. Chambers passed away due to injuries sustained from a stabbing during a confrontation among inmates on May 30, 2021.

Norford and Jefferson were also charged in the previous incident where Chambers was murdered, indicating a serious escalation in violent behaviour within the prison walls.

We need a PRISON and not a 5 star hotel/resort…..inmates are living better than the average Joe working 9-7
