Two dead after Huntums Ghut shooting

(File photo)

Two males lost their lives following a shooting incident in Huntums Ghut early this morning, Friday, May 17, according to a statement from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

According to the police, the shooting happened around 1 am.

The identities of the deceased have not been release yet and the exact details surrounding the shooting incident remain unclear at this time.

This latest shooting follows closely on the heels of a similar recent incident near the Multipurpose Sports Complex, where police investigations are still ongoing after a person was left injured and treated at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital.

The Huntums Ghut community has experienced a disturbing rise in gun violence and reported shootings in recent months, reflecting broader concerns across the territory about the possession and use of illegal firearms.

The RVIPF has been actively urging the public to report any information related to the reckless use of guns and to help identify those involved.

Further updates on the latest murder are expected from the RVIPF as investigations continue.

Agreed! I was up watching Netflix. Lots of pop, pop, pops n no sound of a siren whatsoever! Thats the bizarre part! It’s like the police are hiding $hit from the community for some even more bizarre reason!

More great results brought about by the BVI’s strict gun control laws that absolutely forbid law-abiding citizens from owning firearms.

What would law abiding citizens do to stop a hit job in a bar/strip club? This is a US comment. Guns do not reduce crime and do little to protect lives.

I never said that a law-abiding gun owner would, or should, try to stop that incident. My point is that CRIMINALS are NEVER deterred by gun laws (that’s because they are criminals). And in the US, states that have high levels of gun ownership by LAW ABIDING citizens have less gun crime (and other kinds of crimes)

More guns is definitely the answer to gun crime!
And these shooters would never had shot if guns had been legal?

“And these shooters would never had shot if guns had been legal?” You’re incapable of logical thought – idiot. The issue is that things like this are not prevented from guns being denied to law-abiding citizens.

GOVERNOR!! Its time to get law and order restored.UK police on 6 month shifts here. Get the guns off the streets . Enforce traffic laws. This is now the wild west and much like St Thomas. it will be the economic downfall of the BVI.
with the help of the US we can squash the drug trade and that will take with it a large portion of corruption. Without the drug trade the young hoodlums will be forced to go to school and become productive citizens. have tax people go after unexplained wealth and confiscate ill gotten goods.
this will bring money in to build schools and infrastructure. But Heads have to roll for this to be effective.

The USVI too is besotted by the cultural
cannibalistic practice of the CARICOM ers.
The USA will sort it outin time for sure.
BVI blames the yt man while continuing the installation of proven bad behaviour
practitioners. No effort at the curtailment including expulsion of perpetrators of
the major offending resident demographic that is increasing daily, becoming the dominant immigrant group in these VI.

As long as you do not challenge the UK’s dominance in the drug trade you will survive.

Challenge them and you will be taken.

” Without the drug trade ”

Blah blah it is sickening. They have been focusing on drugs when it is killers that should be focused.

Poof drugs be gone out of existence crime will run rampant regardless because a few people choose to be evil. We dont blame business or homeowners when they are broken into and obviously what has been focused on isnt working.

Do you think the warbetween Fahie and ex Governer was about good governance? Absolutely not.

Only one person in HOA ever mentioned the fact that people in high places were dealing in drugs. How did he know? He knew because he was here to do business.

And when head coach challenge for a piece of the action, they removed him.

Pray for the Young Men in the BVI

All these young men dying just like that – some from accidents and incidents, some being gunned down, shot to death, killed on scooters etc.

Then we have an other set of young men sleeping on the street, begging for money and becoming mentally insane from drugs and whatever the cause.

Then we have the other set ending up in prison or involve in criminal activities, some do not want to work and is no benefit to their families, the church, their communities and society as well.

Soon it would not have any man for the young women to married to and young children will be growing up in a fatherless society.

    NOTE:
There are more than one hundred plus (100 plus) Unsolved Murders and in the British Virgin Islands and the list is increasing daily. Are we waiting for more?

  17. AG James says:

The church is weak in full filling the great commission and our politicians and our society is not Christlike, hence evil abounds. Guns and ammunition were made to maim, disfigure and kill, we do not make them, yet they are here and are misused and abused. And government all over sit on their thumbs. The Bible is relevant and therein lies the solution to gun violence. Read Psalm 10:15. Break the arm of the wicked and evildoers, seek out their wickedness until you find none. God gave a command and promise to eradicate wickedness and we are so blind and or ignorant not to heed his advice. My take is simple legislate the removal of thumbs for all persons found guilty for gun crimes and a second possible penalty of sewing their eyes closed. Sounds harsh, and will yield positive results. Rationale, nobody wants to lose the thumbs, your strength is in your thumbs, without your thumbs you can’t hold a gun or anything to seriously injure anyone. Without your eyes you are at the mercy of others. Will the Virgin Islands be the first wise people to heed God’s command.

  18. James says:

But the government and citizens need to presence their energy and fight for the same sex marriage debate. This is the REAL problem of 2024 they feel, not the guns and crime !!
