UK national nabbed for forging Customs document

Information reaching BVI News is that a UK national residing at a Tortola address was recently slapped with forgery charges related to a boat he was trying to send to the neighbouring United States Virgin Islands (USVI).

It is unclear whether the resident is the owner of the boat. It is further unclear the purpose it is usually used for.

However, BVI news understands that the resident forged a document that Customs officials usually give to persons who are authorised to take their boats out of the BVI.

The accused UK national then gave the forged document to someone else who was trying to take the vessel in question to the USVI. But when Customs officials reviewed the documents, they were found to be counterfeits.

Further investigations led police to the UK resident who originally forged the documents. Our news centre understands that he admitted to the offence.

Details about his court appearance couldn’t be ascertained up to news time.

Please read to understand instead of your fingers being quick to type. The news said a UK national residing in Tortola. Therefore, they have used the word resident in regards to his status here in the BVI.
