UK Overseas Territory Minister currently in the BVI

The United Kingdom Foreign Office Minister of Overseas Territories, Amanda Milling is currently in the Virgin Islands for a four-day visit between March 17 and March 20.

The Minister is expected to hold talks with the Premier to discuss the UK-BVI relationship and the importance of standing together against Russia’s military action in Ukraine to ensure that sanctions are imposed with full effect.

The minister’s official programme includes a visit to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital where she will meet the Minister for Health, hear from staff at the hospital, and see the UK funded vaccination programme in action.

Milling will also visit the BVI Red Cross to see their renewable energy system and meet with key members of the BVI Government to discuss the finance sector.

“I am delighted to be coming to the BVI on what is my first visit to this beautiful Territory. It is a privilege to be the Minister for Overseas Territories and I am proud of the support the UK gives, not least throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had such a huge impact on BVI communities,” Millings said ahead of her visit.

“I am keen to learn more about BVI first-hand. I look forward to meeting the people of BVI, to listen, and to understand,” the Overseas Territory Minister said.

Minister Milling will meet the Commissioner of Police and visit the Police Marine Unit to hear about their plans to improve maritime security. She will also meet the volunteers of VISAR and take part in a search and rescue boat exercise, before going on to visit Virgin Gorda.

Please, spear the Black inhabitants of these islands the rubbish giggerish.

It is those people who are the only ones who can affect change in the territory..

If the train is of track, it is only they that can get it back on, not no white UK hope..

There exist among our people, intelligent, politically capable and astute individuals who care about thier country, children and the future of both.

It is high time for those individuals to step out and up for the cause of country.. Hoping they do..

They are quite caapable of leading us out of this corruption labelled, some genuine, most deliberately created from outside and within, era..

We are capable of correcting and cleaning ourselves when we need to do so, thank you.

She’s here to oversee the peaceful transition of power due to the COI. Troops and police will be deployed to ensure the turnover is done effectively and efficiently.

        We have capable politicians who:
        1. Squeal on their brothers and sisters that allow the COI to come in in the first place

        We have capable politicians who:
Took 4 million from SS and there are
        no fishing markets
No fishermen selling local fish at prices to help the population
No fishermen doing fishing for export
        No fishing farms
        We have capable politicians who
Break down the market in town and
Local food are not sold so people can buy at reasonable costs Where are the Farms
        Capable politician who
Have a board with people on Boards with no knowledge of that field
A hospital with no Specialist for Ear and throat
Not bringing business men responsible for not paying in on employees SS when their money is taken out

SS giving death benefits and maternity benefits the same amount for years when a decent coffin cost over ten thousand dollars

That is your government working for you with capable policies

Barbados has a vibrant and diverse economy, as opposed to ours which has effectively been shut down since March of 2020, with no upturn in site. There is almost no land based tourism other than tour buses on Tortola, and our marine tourism has is struggling with zero help from our government.
Without economic diversity there is no hope for independence

BVI boast about white sand and blue seas, sailing capital and financial services. B’dos has functioning industrial economics, the have factories and produce not only farm produce, but canned foods, beverages, mattresses, pillows, toilet paper, own currency, you name it to help to make themselves self sustainable. I’ll wait for your to remind me what BVI have to help itself. Oh, Bdos has its own military. BVI cant even detain illegal immigrants without a problem. Youall want to become independent because you want to get away with mess and nobody pull uall up for accountability. Like rude chirren

      • Common sense says:

More importantly, they have seven Universities and one college, that’s the main difference between the them and the BVI. Barbados has a well educated population that are more than capable of running their own affaires, the BVI can barely operate their schools never mind send a steady stream of students to offshore colleges and universities, don’t even try to compare the two islands.

  4. @Reality Check says:

Where there is no hope, depair prevails.

Meanwhile Barbados economy was not built over night, and throughout its development, hope was alive..

This is the kind of positive thinking, wide and world view we must practice..

  10. lol says:

When is the COI report being published? and when are the UK taking over?

  11. Um says:

In all seriousness there is no coincidence that she is here right before the COI report is released and as much as I want the clique of people in the BVI taken out of and away from power I am realistic enough to understand that the UK taking over won’t help in the long run because the people in the VIP and NDP Congress that steal from the country have deep family ties that mean there is noone that is fresh or untouched that can take power and lead the BVI for the people without being pressured to steal the publics monies via inflated contracts. The BVI people need to stop worrying about the UK and standup against their cousins / brothers / sisters that are strangling the BVI.
If the voting of the public don’t stand up and demand better for them and their children for the long term instead of taking the short term payout and handout the future of the BVI is screwed.
