Unregulated capitalism and US isolationism are destroying mankind
By Dickson Igwe, Contributor
One family owning more wealth than hundreds of millions of people, is no longer environmentally or socially sustainable in a world headed for the climate change precipice.
A new socialism is on the horizon, where massive matters of global sustainability, and eco-survivability, are managed by governments, international organizations, and communities, working together in tandem.
Now the rich white men who run the global economy were alert to the wails of Greta Thunberg, a Swedish teen. Greta is the 16-year-old Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and winner of the Alternative Nobel Peace Prize, who leads a global youth movement warning mankind that it is on the verge of a massive extinction of countless species, driven by climate change.
It is not guaranteed that mankind will survive the 21st Century. Radical social and economic change alone will save humanity over the next decade, or terminal and irreversible environmental decline will take place. Climate Change, natural disaster, and unsustainable wealth inequality are the direct result of capitalism gone “mad”.
The world is swiftly running out of options as consumers and global corporations owned by the one percent gobble up scarce resources, leading to global warming, and destruction of the habitat. Greater environmental destruction has taken place in the past hundred years than in all of human history.
The backlash is observed in climate change disasters, global conflict, mass migration, racial hatred in the west, xenophobia, Donald Trump, and Brexit.
The only solution, apart from world war, and mass extinction of the species, is a new world order governed by cooperation between powerful states, in driving a sustainable global economy, where environmental sustainability is at the top of the hierarchy of policy choice.
Echoes of a backlash against wealth inequality and austerity can be discerned from the angry politics in the UK and USA, where there is zero compromises between the right-wing and the left-wing, of politics.
Both sides have become anathema to the other. Nations that are aware of the danger the world is in include Canada, New Zealand, and Northern European states, who understand that global cooperation and not selfish nationalism and bigotry, are the only option to save the planet from disaster.
Republican and the populist USA – the world’s most powerful economy and military- is no longer the leader of the free world. The new leaders of the free world are a motley of states such as Canada, New Zealand and the European Union, who understand the menace facing the world from nationalism, populism, and climate change.
Donald Trump has thrown international cooperation, and environmental sustainability, under the bus, to appease his angry white base. According to President Jimmy Carter- and no living ex-US President will be voting for Donald Trump in November 2020- a second Trump Term will be a global catastrophe.

Mr. Igwe –
While I certainly agree with your premiss, especially about Mr. Trump, I offer for your consideration that your constant use of the word “white” tends to add to and even bolster racial divide.
Nonsense – socialists Lways run out of other people’s money.
Corruption and mismanagement are our biggest local issues. When are we going to have our whistleblower law that we were promised?
I want that whistleblower reward
Greta did nothing except speak from a speech, she just complained like her generation do but brought no solutions to the table. As to the rich white men who hold all the worlds money look to your own Africa and its the leaders that hold each countries wealth and spend it on fast cars and women while their own population live in utter poverty. Look towards home first and sort problems not just listen to a crying little girl that has no solutions.
100 %
Faled to mention that Africa was and is still being robbed, plundered, her wealth is being stolen, and her economies are being undermined by said white men, yesterday and today.
Her problems of underdevelopment and abject poverty are a direct result of and bear direct correlations to the aforementioned.
Historic pactices to present illustrate such clearly.
They always conveniently look at the nice cars the black African leaders drive around in. When the elite white leaders of Europe and elsewhere have their private jets, bentleys and sprawling estates, it’s considered ‘normal’, but when the black leaders have the same, it’s considered ‘corruption’. Some times you just have to shake your head and bow in shame because so many times its fellow black people promoting the nonsense.
Meanwhile Insurance coverage is becoming so unbearable expensive one insurance company is agreement with a regional politician that “because of the frequency of bigger and more powerful hurricanes plaguing the Caribbean, insurance will become impossible; and that Under-insurance might have to be one method, among others in order to afford insurance coverage.
Meanwhile colonizing the moon remains the goal of wealthy individuals.
Speaking of poverty and the one percent controlling the abundance of the wealth of nations continues to be that way because of greedy corrupt politicians. In the US Republican administrations give Tax Breaks to wealthy individuals and businesses, in hopes of said entities creating more jobs and spending in the communities; which doesn’t happen…or happen. Throughout the Caribbean, likewise governments give away government’s tax revenue and other revenue in hopes of creating jobs; usually minimum wage jobs; especially in Tourism related businesses and Financial Services. Imagine that!
What racist pompous comments with NOTHING to back it up with . Sad .
There is nothing new about Marxism and the centralisation of power (your new progressive socialism), the new world order is exactly what the elite want, don’t be fooled by their agenda 2030 climate scam! Free your mind! Winter is coming, buy thick coat and be warm to everyone…

please check your racism Dickson
Whilst I agree with many elements of this article, some observations:
1. It is certainly not reasonable to make this about race. It is about consumerism and wealth. The poorest people in every country and society around the world will suffer first, and the richest in those countries will suffer last, should the threatened environmental apocalypse occur.
2. China and India are notably absent from this commentary (biggest global polluters, and China is the new colonial power thanks to its aggressive investment policies in Africa and elsewhere). When I last checked there were very few white people in either country.
3. Every one of us who buys a smartphone is contributing to the horrors in Democratic Republic of Congo due to the demand we are creating for cobalt. I don’t see too many of us worrying about hurting our African brothers so long as we can get on Facebook and WhatsApp wherever we are in the world.
There is nothing remotely racist about this article. The fact that Trump’s base is white and racist is a simple fact. One wonders why whites who have never had to experience racism are so sensitive about matters of race and color- while blacks accept racism as part of being black?
