UPDATE: Masked men carried out targeted Harrigan Estate shooting
The BVI News centre has received additional information relating to the shooting that happened in Harrigan Estate this week.
Our news understands that the victim – a man – was sitting on his porch when a vehicle pulled up in front of his house. Two masked men reportedly exited the vehicle and one started firing shots at the victim.
The victim was reportedly shot in the shoulder but managed to dash for nearby bushes in an effort to escape his attackers. It is reported that the masked men entered the property and continued firing shots at him.
After the gunmen left, the police and ambulance were called to the scene. The victim was brought to the hospital where he received treatment. The full extent of his injuries is not yet known.
It is understood that several spent shells were found at the victim’s residence. Some of the windows and walls were also damaged because of the shots fired.
In the meantime, the police have not released a motive for the shooting nor did they state whether they’ve made any headway in efforts to apprehend the shooter/s.
Four murders have been committed in the community since the start of 2023. Guns have been at the centre of these crimes as the police ramp up efforts to recover illegal weapons from persons in the community.
Recently, the police reported the discovery of a single high-powered weapon along with four other firearms after an early-morning raid was carried out in the Spooner’s Estate area.
A significant amount of ammunition was also found and five persons were arrested — two females and three males.

I’m a respectable resident living the same area. I was at home at the time and saw the whole thing. This man was on his porch doing came juice minding his business as always when the gun men came up and fired. The police was called, they alo gand came along with the ambulance. He walked to ambulance was examined and taken away. The police didn’t didn’t ask any questions just processed the bullets over 40 shells and l left. Even a neighbor truck had a bullet. The police always comes up in unethical manner, no decent approach just pulling guns.

What will you have the police do, come empty handed? Gunshots rung out in your area, which nearly kill a man who went into hiding. Police have to protect themselves in the likelihood that the person who was being shot at (still alive), that the same people would not be lying in wait to ponce again – the police at risk, the ambulance workers at risk, you and the rest of your neighbors at risk and the person that they came for is at risk. Stop coming on the blogs and inciting anger where it is not warranted. You should be wary of your neighbor and the people who want to cancel him.

…and the RVIPF have no intention to follow crime scene protocols & procedures!! They themselves contaminated the crime scene and were very sloppy and atrocious in their gathering of evidence. Prey tell; has the RVIPF anyone qualified to prices finger prints or ballistics? Has ANYONE ever in their lifetime here seen/heard/res of any bullets or gins tied to the historical unsolved murders? Are any of the weapons (guns) confiscated tested for past homicides or incidents here or abroad?
The more HR resources and vehicles the RVIPF acquire; the lower their crime solving rate is. Help me to understand why we have such a huge police force and convictions etc. are on the decline?
How do you think SOME of those cases were solved? It must be because the perpetrator/s felt guilty and turned themselves/s over to the police and confessed everything! What do you know about processing a crime scene btw? A lot of you watch tv or read something from a book at one point in time or another and all of a sudden you are an expert. Go do the work, then stand in the box and speak of your expert techniques that you carried out at a scene. A miracle happens and ALL the evidence appears to identify person/s involved. Go to a crime scene and ask the evidence who did it since you know it all. Chu!

My comments hit a nerve and you may be employed in the said unit/department. Go get the training and qualifications and prove me wrong then! Only burglaries (with aid of cctv) seems to be having the higher convictions rate. Why don’t the RVIPF put out the statistics then to prove me wrong also?!?! The police know his mother could of got shot. Shot past his mother the police never ask mother any thing they wanted dis the police give the man a paper last year saying hitman going to kill he when he showed me that paper and send clif in protecting courtesy he tell me police smile when them arrived
Some of you come on here talking like you have intricate details and insight into these crimes. Since you have so much to say and “seem to” want change, go to the police station and share your inside information with them.
