Vanterpool announces plans to buy ‘Coconut Breeze’ in CGB
Businessman and former legislator Mark Vanterpool of MHV Resorts and Hotels announced plans to purchase ‘Coconut Breeze,’ a property next to the newly acquired, 21-room Cane Garden Bay Beach (CGB) Hotel.
During the official opening ceremony for the CGB hotel on Friday, November 29, Vanterpool confirmed that the hotel would begin receiving guests starting Sunday, December 1.
Vanterpool revealed then that his company had plans to transform Coconut Breeze into a residential inn.
“This is a 15-room villa group that will become part of our hospitality operations,” Vanterpool said. “The one we are buying here is going to be like a residence inn where it will be better for big families to come and stay at a nicer rate.”
The residential inn is expected to open in 2025, in time for the peak tourist season.
Vanterpool also shared that MHV Group plans to acquire more properties, with the goal of creating a global franchise. CGB Hotel is among their first purchases in this new phase of expansion.
While the Coconut Breeze acquisition was announced during the CGB opening, Vanterpool indicated that a formal opening announcement will be made when it is ready.
In the meantime, Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel boasts one penthouse suite, three king-size rooms, six oceanfront suites, six queen-size rooms, three twin rooms, and two poolwater penthouse suites.
For decades, MHV Group has been a significant player in the BVI’s business landscape, with ventures spanning supermarkets, food service, and restaurants. Now expanding into hospitality, Vanterpool aims to elevate the quality of service in the BVI’s tourism industry.
