Vanterpool family purchasing Quito’s Inn and Restaurant

The tourism hotspot, Quito’s Gazebo in Cane Garden Bay

Former lawmaker Mark Vanterpool has announced that his family group is expected to purchase the Quito’s Inn & Restaurant establishment in Cane Garden Bay.

Vanterpool was speaking recently at the ceremony for another acquisition for his family group — the Rock Cafe on Virgin Gorda.

“The Vanterpool family group is buying Quito’s,” Vanterpool said to loud applause. “If you heard that before, it’s no longer a rumour, it’s true.“

He continued: “We are buying Quito’s Hotel and Restaurant so you’ll have a restaurant in Cane Garden Bay.”

Vanterpool said the agreement will be signed this week and he expects that it will be finalised over the next few months once he acquires the funding from the bank.

“We are buying Quito’s because I love Quito’s, I love the hotel that he’s given us. It’s at a very high standard and I love the restaurant on the water,” Vanterpool shared.

He promised that the new acquisition would become part of his Vanterpool Group of Companies.

Vanterpool promised to sell the units at the hotel separately once he acquired the property and lease them afterwards.

“Every room will be sold and leased back, so write your cheques now. It starts at $1 million,” he said.

Proprietor Quito Rymer opened a multi-million dollar 21-room upgraded hotel establishment at the end of 2018 but put the property up for sale several months ago.

The charm is lost on that flashy hotel. they killed the golden goose that people came to see… local charm and culture. It is not healthy to have one entity own so many properties what can control the tourist trade. Especially when the family considers themselves better than other locals. too bad about guito’s. No longer what it was..

  7. Main Street. Boys. says:

It is truly admirable and extraordinary of the business focus three local Virgin islanders have had and developed over the years.

They were young boys growing up on old Main Street justyesterday. They did what boys do, run, play, sit, chat, joked and fool around and more.

They were business oriented and focused from a very young age, obviously. This comment seeks to highlight three of those young boys, Mr. M. Vanterpool, the now business icon, Mr. Vanterpool, the medical infrastructural development icon and Mr. Skelton.

Those men have evolved as business icons holding a significant range of investments, and offering a range of products and services, now our/ the VI people’s icon. We celebrate and uplift them for the giants they have become in our life time., and in the economic pillars of the VIslanders..

None wouldn’t understand the gravity of the above, unless one was one of those young boys, who hung out on Skelton’s, Fonseca and Round the Well corners, pitched marbles, and fished in the mangroves, long before thoughts of a highway was considered.

We who have witnessed this transformation of those individuals for self and country fully applauds and embrace their success. We wish them continued success, and also hope that they or some other local would take back monoply of the clothing industry as we once did in the not to distant past.

the hotel please. The building is an eyesore and devalues all the property in Cane Garden Bay. It should never have been built.

  12. SUZE says:

My hope is that the Vanderpool group will soften the colour of Quitos. I know the building is there to stay, but it could truly use an infusion of a little island vibe. As a longtime sailor (and once a resident in the BVI), I remember Cane Garden Bay in the days when Stanley served up cold beers and good cheer on the Palm lined beach. As time, natural events and progress continued, the “skyline” (so to speak) of CGB did not fight the natural view of nature’s gifts until Quitos was built. Perhaps, Mark will hire the right designer to right a visual wrong as best as can be done. With creativity and imagination, surely this out of place building can be made more compatible with the landscape and what tourists come to see. If they wanted warm weather and big buildings, they would head to Ft Lauderdale or Miami, not the BVI! This is written with love for the BVI and wonderful memories of CGB.

  13. Wiltz says:

What is astounding, is that it was ever built. When the restaurant – seperate to the hotel was in trouble, they resisted opportunity by professionals to turn into a higher end venue that would have saved hotel. It was remarkable they refused to reinvent such a model offered and opportunity to save their investment.
