Vincentian granted $60K bail after allegedly assaulting woman with knife

Clifton John at Magistrate’s Court.

A St Vincent man accused of injuring a woman after holding her at knife-point has been granted $60,000 signed bail in the Magistrate’s Court.

Charged with using threatening language, criminal damage and assault causing actual bodily harm is 31-year-old Clifton John.

He was not made to plead to the charges when he appeared before Magistrate Christilyn Benjamin on Tuesday.

Allegations

The court heard that on May 24, the complainant was playing a game of dominoes with friends at a bar on Virgin Gorda.

After some time, she and another female excused themselves and headed to the bathroom together.

It is alleged that John, who would perform odd jobs around the establishment, accosted the woman with a knife on her way back and demanded to know what they were discussing.

The court heard that he allegedly said: “You must not tell me lies or else I will f*** you up.”

It is further alleged that the accused man criminally damaged a 32-inch television belonging to the complainant.

A report was made to police and John was subsequently arrested.

During a subsequent interview, he allegedly told police that he went to the bathroom on the day in question and noticed the women there.

He allegedly told police that he asked what they were discussing but he denied the allegations against him.

Bail

In court, the Crown did not object to bail but insisted that John be placed under specific bail conditions.

As such, the court imposed signed bail with one surety.

The accused was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the Virgin Gorda Police Station on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6 am to 6 pm.

John, who is being represented by defence attorney Patrick Thompson, is also forbidden from making any contact with the complainant.

He is scheduled to return to court on July 30.

No more visa for Vincentian, no more permit for Vincentian, No more Vincentian! Who mad let dem mad. I’m saying what I feel.

Everyone grows up with different morals and values and perhaps the Vincentian’s morals and values (for life) differ to the average folk, if they can not abide under the norms of the BVI (stop stab and kill women) they need to go and stop being permitted to enter the country.

We cant even say screen for them cuz apparently the one who shot the lady on Sunday (I am not a reporter date may be wrong) had a college education! (Mi Ass Ya)

My opinion…. crime through drug running is quite enough for the BVI and I think we are all satisfied with our quota.

No more visa for Vincentian, no more permit for Vincentian, No more Vincentian! Who mad let dem mad.

I think we all are aware that the BVI needs immigrants lets just get them from somewhere else… please.

No more visa for Vincentian, no more permit for Vincentian, No more Vincentian! Who mad let dem mad.

PEOPLE IS GETTING READY TO START LASHING OUT ON THE VINCYS. THE INNOCENT IS GOING TO START TO SUFFER FOR THE GUILTY. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. PEOPLE IS STARTING TO GET TO THE BOILING POINT WITH THESE VINCYS. AND BOILING POINT MEANS WAR IS BREWING.IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT BLOWS. It is time to do something about Vincentian men coming to our country and violating and killing our women. Maybe it is time to institute a ban or limit their migration to be this country.

The truth is, it is a known cultural fact, thought not al are prone to such violence, and most are good men, many of the men from that island settle grieviances with knives and matchetes. That is a known cultural fact.

And, one never knows when one wil resort back to an instinctual cultual norm in the heat of the moment.

The good work of the community and the police working hand in hand to catch the expatriate criminals and we must applaud them because working together is the most important thing to help solve these crimes. The commissioner of police recently asked the community to help .but living here now for 30 yrs i come to realize that the expatriate criminals hardly ever get away from been brought before the courts which is good. Conviction rate is also very good.lets look at it from another angle.for the past 25 yrs there is about 40 unsolve murders in this little island and that is not good .the question is why so many unsolve murders??.I am thinking now that is it because the indeginious as some like to call themselves did it or some family member or relatives from the two close by continent (st johns / st Thomas) because the bvi is not an island its a continent am sure.i am very glad that you communicate with the police when its an island man or woman commit crimes.but why not do the same for your family and friends from the surrounding continent’s .all crimes are the same according to the bible that you people from the continent read.look at the # of unsolve murders in this tiny continent my gosh this is the heaven for unsolve murders .and you know the reason why most of them are unsolve its because of wicked people like you with your dirty mine .you indeginious people have the criminal live right in your houses and some you sent away knowing fully what they had done.so stop hating on people and stop pooling them together. The Most High would strike again and it would be worst.thats probably what the premier has seen but dont want to say yet because the wicked and the faithful will all perish.and it would not be quick punishment it would be slow and painful. This is not something am wishing it is what to come.since the last disaster here the people of this continent has become more wicked. I know I’ll feel the rath of God to .You so called indeginious people give up your family members and friends so justice can takes its course.40 unsolve murders in this place talk that and is you locals who did them.talk that

So you are angry that Vincentians are caught when they commit crimes. It is a high probability that some of those unsolved murders were commited by Vincy just they were not caught. Maybe we just get lucky to catch these few.

Honestly, the Jamaicans in this Country is not as bad as the Vincys. Vincys are barbaric evil people. They are here to destroy and take over the BVI. The BVI have to put visa restrictions and work permit restrictions on the Vincys.

  14. Really? says:

Omg, some of you posters are really that naïve about Domestic Violence and associating it with one nationality. I strongly believe there are more women in the BVI suffering in silence and not reporting instances of DV, so the true demographic statistics are unknown. It just happens to be that cases reported as of recent are Vicentians. As a woman, if you know you are experiencing DV or you know someone who is, speak up and report it before it is too late.
