Department of Disaster Management (press release): A small craft warning is in effect as sea conditions are expected to become rough by early tomorrow. As a result of these developing conditions, sea bathers are also advised to exercise caution.

Although the seas are currently categorized as being ‘moderate to rough’ with waves of 5 to 7 feet, the Antigua Meteorological Services has indicated that waves are expected to increase to 6-8 feet by tomorrow morning, March 15.

Two beaches are currently red flagged—Trunk Bay and Rogues Bay, which means sea conditions there are dangerous and no swimming is allowed.

Extra caution should be exercised at beaches that are yellow flagged and weak swimmers are discouraged from entering the water.

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is therefore advising the public to adhere to these warnings which are in place to ensure your safety.

The public can also expect relatively stable atmospheric conditions to continue to dominate the weather, keeping rainfall activity minimal over the BVI for the next 24 hours.
