Willock angling at Third District run in next elections
Former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Julian Willock, has signalled an intention to become a candidate in the 2027 polls for the Third Electoral District.
Willock made that disclosure during an appearance on the Talking Points radio show this week when he stated that he was led to believe that the seat will become vacant after the current term.
That District is currently led by Julian Fraser, Chairman of the Progressives United, who is now serving in his seventh consecutive term in office after first being elected in 1999.
“Well, it’s my understanding, for example, in the Third District, there will be an open seat,” Willock said. “So, you never know what can happen. I’m not making any announcements now. I don’t want any headline.”
Willock said that although he is not a spokesperson for Fraser, he was made to understand that Fraser will not be seeking re-election in that district after his current term.
“It’s an open seat and you never know at the time what the climate is, who the people want at the time,” Willock added. “And it’s all about the people. What you have done for your community [and] who is best positioned at the time to represent the district.”
He also suggested his decision may hinge on who will enjoy Fraser’s endorsement if it was indeed Fraser’s last four years in office.
Willock denied that he had cold feet after announcing that he was embarking on a listening tour before the last elections.
He noted that although he was buoyed by the strong showing of support he received to be a candidate at the time, he still had to go back home and do his calculations.
“I did not run in the last election. Let’s wait and see. We have four years down the road,” Willock added. “Let’s wait and see what happened. So I’m not here baiting anyone.”

I thought I was the only person who has noticed his obsession and jealousy when it comes to Myron. Myron was at large he wanted to run at large and couldn’t even get his own party nomination. Now Myron is the rep for district 6 now he wants to be rep for district 3.
