Woman attacked, wounded in Baugher’s Bay

Police have made an arrest as they dig deeper into a case in which a young Jamaican woman visiting the British Virgin Islands (BVI) was ganged and severely beaten allegedly by other women.

BVI News Online has confirmed that a female resident of Baugher’s Bay, who works at a bar in the Huntum’s Ghut area, has been nabbed.

Details of the incident, however, remain sketchy.

The beating unfolded a few nights ago at Pearla’s Bar in Baugher’s Bay, Tortola.

Reports are that the Jamaican visitor was inside the bar when she was accosted by two women – reportedly unknown to her.

The ‘strange’ women attacked and severely beat the visitor inside Pearla’s Bar. When she managed to leave the establishment, she allegedly was subjected to a second round of beating.

The visitor, who was badly wounded, underwent emergency treatment at Peebles Hospital.
