Works Minister being marginalised?
Businessman and clergyman John Cline has suggested that Works Minister Kye Rymer is being marginalised within the government, with his ministry starved of much-needed funding.
Cline made these claims during an interview on JTV, where he pointed out that despite its importance, Rymer’s ministry is not receiving adequate resources to meet its goals.
Cline expressed concern that while Rymer remains loyal to Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley, he is being overlooked in favour of other political agendas.
“He’s literally being set up to fail. You know, you can win your district, but if you can’t deliver anything…,” Cline said, referring to the Works Minister’s apparent inability to advance in his political career despite his loyalty.
Cline highlighted Rymer’s financial constraints in his ministry and argued that Premier Wheatley kept a “stranglehold” on the BVI’s finances. He revealed that Rymer had requested $30 million to address critical infrastructure needs such as roads and sewerage systems but was only allocated $1.8 million.
“So you marginalise me in terms of financial resources to deliver on my portfolio,” Cline said, expressing Rymer’s frustrations.
Cline argued that there was no guarantee that Premier Wheatley would win re-election in his Seventh District but opined that this was different for Rymer, who is well-liked by his Fifth District constituents. However, Cline raised concerns that this favourability may be at risk due to his constraints.
“If the election were held tomorrow, if you could count three people who will be elected from the Virgin Islands Party, Kye would be one of them,” Cline stated. “But yet he’s been treated almost like a stepchild, in my opinion,” Cline stated.
The businessman also suggested that Rymer’s situation might be part of a larger political strategy. He argued that Rymer was used as a “sacrificial lamb” to allow the Premier and others to retain control of the government’s finances. “You’re asking me to be the sacrificial lamb so that you can continue to reign supreme over the finances,” Cline remarked. “At some point, the dam is going to break”.
Cline’s comments come at a time when the BVI faces significant challenges in its infrastructure, with roads, sewerage systems, and water supply being major issues. The apparent lack of funding for Rymer’s ministry raises questions about the government’s priorities and how it plans to address these pressing concerns.

i agree !!!
I know for sure that he dares not play those types of games with Fraser
He is 100% correct!!!
I didnt hear him talking about sacrificial lambs when others were removed and Ministers who he favored were put into positions during that Coalition Government period . All of a sudden its now unfair?. so actually no he is not right and subjective as usual it just aligns with your own thinking.
There are no more elections in the BVI. The UK won’t need elections when they takeover next month.
How are they taking over? – After all that has happened, and they’ve done nothing. It will continue as such I assure you!
This group of people were democratically elected by us. If I was the UK, I would sit there and watch us eat each other like Lord of the Flies! Why do any dirty work when we all are so good at it ourselves?
No …. the UK is going to let the people step up and either make the changes or sit and suffer the fools they elected!
Thats all folks!
exactly. All this fearmongering the the UK coming to take everything, while they just waiting for us to screw the country up so bad we forced to hand it over.
We are our own worst enemy.
And I can only imagine how it sickens you to the pit of your stomach to see the Virgin Islanders still running their country and making strides no matter how small!
For once I agree with Bishop Cline.
Be watchful they are jealous of the fraser move and it’s clear the opposition is going no where soon or fast as they cannot govern the bvi so cline and his gang resigned to making confusion and division in the country but we will never fall for it!!!
right on point.Premier need to make another bold move to get his @ss locked up
the season bout the start that patch of road up by the look out need dealing with asap mehn
BLIND loyalty this man
This is old news and the premier has taken steps to provide the much needed funding with the 100m loan. Why are we hell bent on these divisive tactics?
This is not about blind loyalty, it’s about lack of BALLS! Kye is not ready for primetime, which is why he will continue to sit there happy being a Minister, despite not being able to get s**t done. Everyone had Sowande to be the little soft fooly boy but it’s obvious with his moves that is not the case.
Hear this wolf talking. The man who sell Jesus and use the same government to build his business.
Clone I mean Cline go siddung!
if Kye decided to cross floor he still might remain in the same work minister position should the opposition win majority in an election. so its best he stay where he is right now. all those opposition agenda is not to overthrow the VIP but they are just aiming for the Premier. The Premier is a young man who supported everyone from his young days, give him a chance to run the country. I know the older politician is vex but you were all young once. he get this opportunity at a young age let him make use of it.
With the 4 Ms on the opposition it is wishful thiking that he will keep his Minisrty if he crosses. I believe he is a more studied politican than that. If a seasoned proven politician like Frasier couldnt make progress with that bunch then nobody can.
If Kye crosses, we offer Ronnie a super Ministry including Finance and VIP good to go.
Except, Ronnie cannot be bought or sold, so your plan wouldn’t work.
Not finance , hes overrated and just believing in taxing tourist. he will ruin the Tourist product by taxing it to death, instead of really controllling spending.
im reallly hoping kye dont hear you. Im not a Fan or loyalist of the VIP but would heavily consider supporting VIP ONLY if Kye ever leads that party. I believe his time will ultimately come, without having to cross any floor
Exactly, if he stay he have a better chance of becoming premier one day he still young. If he go opposition side he might end up retiring and didn’t get this chance.
Try it
Lavity, Ralph, Loius Walters, Ethlyn Smith and all the others must be rolling in their graves! These wannabe politicians cannot very water in a basket much less manage ministries. Kye is a prime example of promoting above one’s abilities. He is a place holder and just a number. This VIP bunch are amateurs at their best, failures on daily display. Fraser is for Fraser – point blank! His style of politics is outdated and arcane. He is a pensioner looking to secure a state funeral when he rides off into the sunset.
If these tools were about the people, country and doing good we would not be feeling underrepresented and unfulfilled!
Where is the hope that we desperately need?
Cline needs to go sit down. SIR WE WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR YOU so you can save yourself some time and keep off the airwaves!
Mr Cline you trying to divide and create confusión with weathly and Rymer we now you you’re not a man of principle just a sca**er so give yourself advice.
He does not have the balls to stand up for himself
He is being abuse .
Leave him and jump ship . You have the power in your hand . Use it .
You have become the laughing stock
That is gross and all you show is blind loyalty.
Poor Tommy
Reason why Kye should have been reinstated as the deputy for the life of the party as the most popular VIP politician. I have to agree with most of what the Pastors says
Vindictive much
is saying )> boi , ah wonder if shoud craz dah flor, ? me ain’t like how our coach treating me atallll
John C looking to get someone in power since Mrs. Smith got fired. Everything is about power. Premier did a good JOB!!
THE HEAD FOR PUBLIC WORKS S UNDERMINING THE MINISTRY.I CAN GIVE SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE IN THIS MATTER. THIS GUY DOES NOT HAVE THE COUNTRY AT HEART.VERY VENDICTIVE AND INSO DOIN WITH THE MINISTER THE PEOPLE AND SCHOOL KIDS ENDUP SUFFERING.THE MINSITRY INSTUCT PUBLIC WORKS TO FIX A CERTAIN ROAD BUT THIS GUY VERY RELUCTANT TO DO SO DISPITE CRY FROM THE RESIDENT.PEOPLE LIKE HIM SHOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE PUBLIC SERVICE.THE MINISTER INTENTION IS GOOD BUT NOT GETTING THE SUPPORT FROM PUBLUC WORKS
This is the case with almost all the ministries , people need to start taking action. Performance evaluations need to be put in place and a system to remove them within a certain timeframe if they dont meet expectations.
Rhymer is a decent man who was probably the most efficient and caring head of a government department of this era. . He looked to be a future Premier. Wheatley gave him the poison chalice of fixing the infrastructure with no money to do so.
I suspect Ky will not put up with that forever.
Remember Natalio than even with the Fraser Cl**n bought and paid for , you are only one vote away from a no confidence situation.
Lorna and Ky in charge?
Could not be worse than we have.
